Steem ranks #6 in China's latest Blockchain rankings
The latest blockchain rankings are out from China and steem continues to rate well.
The 6th Global Public Blockchain Technology Assessment Index was released recently and there were a few surprises.
(Say that 5 times fast!)
The rating was done by the China Electronic Information Industry Development (CCID), a government organization.
Surprisingly, or not surprisingly depending on your views, steem continued to rate well as can be seen below:
(Source: https://www.ccn.com/bitcoin-falls-to-19th-in-chinas-latest-blockchain-rankings/)
Steem comes in at number 6 on the list.
Right behind the likes of eos, ether, bitshares, nebulas, and neo.
According to the report, 33 blockchain projects were rated based on their technology, application, and their creativity (not sure exactly what that last one means).
Surprises:
Bitcoin's rating comes in as a major surprise.
While steem has continued to rate well in these rankings, at one point rating as high as number 2, bitcoin has rated poorly every time.
On top of that, bitcoin continues to slide each month.
In August bitcoin ranked in the top 10.
Now it barely is clinging to the top 20, with a current ranking of 19.
As we can see by the chains that are rating well, there is a special emphasis placed on the fabric/platform chains, chains that can be built upon.
Bitcoin currently doesn't rate well comparatively.
Stay informed my friends.

That makes EOS #1 on this list every month since June; EOS has had a huge advantage in the "basic tech" score, and that doesn't appear to be slipping. I have to imagine that things like the "EOS21 protocol" will only continue to boost its Applicability score.
Awesome to see Steem continue to rank highly amidst these very competitive platforms!
For some reason I thought EOS was second in the first ranking's release?
I'm not entirely sure (can't quickly find the May report right at the moment), but my point was that China started publishing this monthly report in May, prior to the EOS Mainnet launch. Since that launch (at the beginning of June), EOS has been at the top of all reports released. Hence my statement [emphasis added]:
Here is a somewhat more informative breakdown of the top two platforms, and a source that claims EOS was left off the May report altogether [again, emphasis added]:
So, yes, I do believe EOS was either absent from the first report (in May), or at least was not in the top spot. However, since June, the platform has held strong in the top position.
Good information. Thanks for the refresher!
If we got 1% of China on Steem it would be great :) I see China on the Alexa ranks, but do they block the site at all?
That is a great question. I am not sure. They seem to be pretty anti bitcoin as it is, would not be surprised if they blocked crypto related websites.
Great to see we’re making waves in a market with such huge volumes and potential especially with the fact western based centralized social isnt pretty much banned in the region and their local versions are very well supported if we can start to gather more authors and use I can only imagine how huge this project could become

It is ironic that there is a government organization that rates public blockchains/cryptocurrencies while the government has also done their best to ban cryptocurrencies within China.
Lol that is pretty ironic but yeah all about self preservation at this point! I see banks and governments as the blockbuster and Kodak of the world and soon we will all have Netflix and smartphones and we can’t think of how it used to be, or at least that’s my hope

There is probably some truth to that, though it won't be the models that exist currently. Whatever eventually replaces banks and fiat will probably look quite different than the options available today.
very interesting- especially about bitcoin! thanks for keeping me informed :)
But there's Bytecoin on the list, seriously?

Haha, well these are not my rankings so you will have to take it up with them.
It seems almost arbitrary. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of bitcoin, cuz the fees are a lot higher and it's a pain to move, but ranking Etherium so high? Really? Because it's popular? It's pretty slow. I mean, I guess with advancements it might get more usable...but ehh...
It needs to figure out how to scale, it is almost always at or near max capacity over the past year.
