I dont have time to google this but i will paraphrase a story/joke.
Client comes to graphic designer and tells him to do grpahic X.
Designer knows the guy didnt pay him last time so gives 2x bigger price.
Guy say - dude, for you its like 5 seconds of work.
Designer - yes 5 seconds + 10 years studying design, paying for curses and working 8h a day with design programs.

The volume for the last 24h is 1,072 BTC and the price barely moved. It's so promising.
I'm trying to get a miner setup. And it's taking forever to download the blockchain up to this point. It's frustrating me.

You can't mine Steem. It was removed in Hard Fork 18.
So what is the witness node? There must be witnesses to the blockchain...right?

Witnesses maintain the blockchain, rather than miners yes.
I suggest joining steemit.chat and see if there's a room for witness related stuff. You might find technical help there.
I have a feeling that STEEM is going way up high soon!
Why does the price of Steem dollars vary between different markets?
thats a good question. the easiest answer - SBD is pegged to 1 USD up here but on the other sites - its trading like any other coin. So some clueless people may want to sell it below 1 USD or above 1 USD. There was the historic pump of SBD when they went to 6-7 USD.
