How to cash out Steem to a Wirex card using Shapeshift, including converting Steem Dollars to Steem
For those who are wondering about how this is done, here is a quick guide with pictures for how it is done:
In this case, I am converting my Steem Dollars to Steem. Shapeshift can get confused when you transfer Steem Dollars to them, and I don't recommend it.
You can pick the price by clicking on the prices in the orders. If you are buying Steem, you want to pick a price level from the Sell Orders column, that has enough showing in the Total SD ($) column for your total order to be fulfilled, otherwise, you will have to wait until someone wants to buy it. If your order can be completed by standing orders, it will execute within 30-60 seconds.
I use linux so there is the convenience of middle-click paste, so I can double click on my available SD (on either side of the decimal if you double click it selects the whole number), and then middle click into the SD field on the Buy Steem. If you were doing this the other way, you copy the amount from the right of Available Steem, and note, you then paste that number into the Steem field on the Sell Steem form on the right (second one down).
You will then be prompted to confirm that you want to make this trade, and after clicking Ok, it wil prompt for your username, and the password for doing buy and sell and transfer orders.
Next, go to your e-coin.io (Wirex) login, and click on the link 'Top up with Shapeshift' button that has a blue box around it from my mouse hovering over it.
This will take you to shapeshift.io, where you need to select Steem as your currency.
Take note of the Deposit Limit at the bottom of the box here, second item from the left. This amount can sometimes be less than you want to load your wirex card with. It will let you do it, because it is not in control, but you can end up with issues so: make sure you are transferring equal or less than this amount.
It is recommended that you add your Steem username of the account you are transferring from, and it is a good idea for your records, to also enter an email address, to which a receipt for the exchange will be sent.
Click on the number on your Wallet page that shows the amount of Steem (not Steem Dollars) that you have, and select 'Transfer'.
Next, you can copy and paste the information specified to perform the exchange from here. The memo is very important, make sure you copy it correctly!.
If you are just sending all the available Steem you have, you can just click on the blue 'Balance xxx Steem' button and it will fill the amount in for you.
Make sure you have filled all these details in correctly! If you are satisfied they are correct, hit transfer, and you will be asked to sign the transaction.
After 10-30 seconds, assuming you did this all correctly, the Shapeshift page will register the transfer, and commence the exchange, and send the coins to the address that your Wirex account specified, and in 10-60 minutes the bitcoin transaction will be confirmed and you can then load your card with Fiat from there.
Happy Trading!

Thanks for the useful article!
Thanks, I did not know about the WireX card. This would solve some issues for me too. Is it easy to get one, or do you use the virtual one.
If you want to exchange Steem Dollar directly to Bitcoin you could use https://blocktrades.us once you have a memo you can reuse it. At least if you are using the same Bitcoin address.
And you could make one for Steem too.
Yes, it is easy to get and the first one is free. There is a 2.75€ fee for cash withdrawals though. They also have virtual cards but I need to pay in shops so I need a physical card. I need my earnings spendable pretty quickly and for now it is ok, though the speed you trade for a fairly large loading fee also. I will be switching to crypto.bg at some point for lower fees. Also, if I have a big chunk, there is a BitX ATM in the centre of town, 2% fee and instant cash.
Did they send you the WireX physical card to Bulgaria? Are there any taxes for owning one?
How do you intend to use crypto.bg with a physical card? Bank transfer?
Cool article! Btw, you can simply click the available amount on the internal exchange and it fills in automatically. No need to copy and paste.
No, just clicking didn't work at least when I was making this. The price does auto-fill if you click on an entry in the order book though.
Yes, they sent it to me here in Bulgaria, to my work, where I was at the time. There is a loading fee and a spending fee and a 2.75 euro cash-out fee (plus bank fees).
Crypto.bg has a function to do wire transfers in bulgaria, as well as via easypay where you can then load your bulgarian debit card.
