🤘🔥📯 Release of Memestagram: new Steem wallet and app that you’ve been waiting for even without knowing

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

Hiya all!

As most people know a subconscious love for memes was noticed by Richard Dawkins, and we’ve used it since memes became the anecdotes of the 21st century.

That money will be in the form of cryptocurrency since tokens are of the same abstract community value as memes, that is, they are the same basic units of valuable information, that can be exchanged peer to peer.

That’s why we’ve decided to take the best of both worlds and created a brave new portal Memestagram – your chance to rofl and enrich yourself.

Since the crypto has taught us to look at things soberly and to count only on ourselves, we decided to set on the platform a ubiquitous reward tax of 7.77%

This small fee will go to support the developers as well as to feed the @memestagram account, which will help newbies to not be carried away by the fast information flow.

Upvotes of this account are kind of universal basic income for the community members, generated by their own activities. With the growth of the community, the power of upvote will grow too because the power of a meme is like the strength of a gene – it lays in the number of its carriers.

As a part of our idea for a basic income for the meme community, we offer an upvote lotto for your 1st post every day. When you publish a tasty meme on a new day you will see a spinning wheel giving you the possibility for 11, 22, 33, 66, 77 or 99% upvote from the @memestagram account.

  • Once a day daily lottery for your posts
  • Win 11, 22, 33, 66, 77 or 99% upvote from the @memestagram account

Currently, there is no way to register an account directly, but you can use one of two options:

  • Use your Steem account keys
  • Use an anonymous registrator, so that you can keep your dark Memestagram side hidden

My main account vs My fake account

Briefly about the interface

To log in and quickly start posting your utterly funny pictures, you’ll need to authorize using the widely known Steemconnect service.

Then you’ll see a page with memes, and unobtrusive interface with various quirks, which among other things has a night mode. Leave comments to any picture, subscribe to kindred accounts, edit your posts, sort and browse them via sections, explore the depth of the meme feed, and earn steem!

As it is easy to guess, a heart signifies like, and a poop signifies a dislike for the author’s exquisite sense of humor, although it does not correlate with your SP or affect the post’s payout. Although we have some plans for those who get a big pile of them, but we’ll talk about that later.

It needs to be said, that memestagram.io is not just a portal for your compelling content, but is also a fully functional STEEM wallet, that allows you to

  • send tokens
  • power up or down your STEEM
  • move STEEM/SBD to and from savings
  • delegate/undelegate your SP
  • claim your post rewards

For your convenience we’ve also added a dynamic chart of STEEM/SBD price. Check it out:

Well, it seems that we don’t have anything more to add, so we’re now leaving you alone with the madcap meme-machine!

We still have a ton of ideas in our heads that we’ll be releasing in the new versions of the dapp, so don’t wait and start pushing all the buttons, and remember:

In meme we trust!

Sort:

This may well be the greatest idea I've seen all year. Let's be real here, everybody loves a good meme. If someone tells me they don't find memes entertaining, I cross them off as a "closet meme-er," who prefers to scroll and laugh uncontrollably in private.

Having an available platform similar to Instagram that is solely catered to memes will undoubtedly draw the attention of a significant portion of users already on Instagram. I'm a millenial and many of my friends have brought up in discussion that they only follow meme accounts on instragram and/or only care about meme accounts, so having to scroll through hundreds of other posts from people they follow that they don't really care to see can often deters them from taking the time to scroll through their feed at all.

On the other hand, some users say they don't care for memes (I still stand by my "closet meme-er" theory..), so the unavoidable and crowded presence of memes on instagram distracts them from being able to see other posts they really care about, like ones by friends and family.

Creating a separate platform only for memes will not only aid the meme takeover of instagram that frustrates many users, but it will simultaneously provide a second source and outlet for even more memes to scroll through for all the die-hard meme-lovers out there. And trust me, there are many :)

Can't wait to see where this brilliant project goes!

i-dont-know-rick-looks-fake-to-me.jpg
I do not know Rick looks fake to me hahaha, it can really be a great idea, but so many social networks, at some point we are going to tire, or saturate, I think that people who have Instagram follow accounts that they want to see frequently, when they get tired of An account simply stops them from continuing. I do not know, what do you say?

Here it is, one of the key game changers of blockchain to break into the mainstream. Not only can we have a place to share AND create on the fly memes, but we dont have to worry about Instagram censorship bullshit.
I really see this as a great project connecting multiple chains. The built in wallet is just what we need from a dapp as well, I really am a fan of this feature from day 1!

In MEME We Trust

Very nice, looks clean! =) Are you interested in adding Keychain into Memestagram? I'm currently trust Steemconnect, but we don't need any middleman for that anymore.^^

Hello I'm Paula I'm from Peru I'm 19 years old and I found this page that I love the people that follow me I'll be following https://steemit.com/@paulavasquez

Interesting project, we will look into it.

Actually, we have our own tool https://cryptoinvoice.app/

But after analyzing steem community we decided to integrate Steemconnect as it's the most adopted communicator

Are you able to tell us who is behind this project in order to help us determine its trustworthiness?

You don't need to trust us: we use Steemconnect, so if you trust them you'll be safe.

OK. Good luck with your app.

Trust in meme. You will be fine.

since it is using blockchain and also with steem so no worries.

Who is behind the project?

Sounds legit...

it is like the Instagram in the blockchain world, would be success as a lot of people are using social Media to advertise, connect with people, doing business and so on. good idea and wish you a great success.

How do you plan to deal with the different markups that are on different dapps in the comments? I think it's a big issue that nobody is really addressing. When you have people commenting on steemit, under a memstagram post and use styling, it can potentially look like shit on memstagram or at a bare mimum all the extra code shows up.

Thank you for the interesting question, so far we have not identified such issues, all comments and answers were displayed correctly. We use the markdown parser plugin and for now, it does its job. We will continue to observe and if we see something we will find a way to fix it.

How is this going to work with other dapps that are like twitter that only allow a smaller amount of characters per comment? Also the markdown parser will probably mess up occasionally making the site look very professional. What about only including comments that are generated from your dapp either on the site or with your android/ios apps? That's the only solution I can think of without the experience looking unprofessional. If someone posts a gif as a comment on steemit, are you gong to show that on yours also? It just seems like it pigionholes the experience. What about the dapps that do not want to have images in comments then they have a prase the code out or leave it looking like crap.

Awesome, the meme overlords are finally here :) are there any plans to have something like imgflip for meme making on the browser (or future android/ios app) ?

Thanks)

We have a lot of ideas around meme tools that we want to experiment with

For the moment we have PWAs for android, but we plan to work on a standalone app for android
