Corporate organization actuall sells your personal info!!

Well it seems fitting that I share this observation with you guys. Though it may not be a surprise to some, but its important that we re-enforce the notion of privacy and data security.

Was making an online research, when I bumped into an article on digital marketing that suggested that organizations in which we apply for jobs or make other transactions with do and very often sell our personal information to marketers.

This is serious I thought, thinking that It was just a mere write ups by some author who probably was all fired up and in the mood to beat that targeted landmark of words in his article. Afteral, there is this talk of data privacy in these big organizations and for the sake of professionalism and trust, I brushed the suggestion aside. The phrase "don't believe everything you read" quickly came to mind.

Fast-forward two weeks on, I had an experience with one of these hosting company--I had purchased a hosting right and and had an hosting account set up. The content of the website was barely empty for 24 hour after payment when I received an email not from the hosting company, but from an entirely different party offering the services of a web designer.

I tried to see if it was somehow linked to the hosting company, but believe me, it was not: there are actually digital marketers targeting me; and for the record, it is nothing like the re-targeting strategies will see in Netflix and Amazon: it is wholly a third party intrusion.

The it seemed like an intelligent idea from a marketing perspective, but the intrusion was clear, my privacy had been violated. But that's the thing: in a world of digital transformation where data generation and and usage is at the heart of it, we will continue to see similar violations in our privacy.

Blockchain to the rescue
Blockchain a technology that has promised so much: with its encryption features, we can truly own our data and decides who sees them. The technology will ensure that our information stay private third party infringement will be a thing of the past.
