I see both of these strategies as bad for Steem in general. The bigger players should be looking to keep minnows engaged to make it more viable platform than just feeding their own egos/wallets. Most of them are doing okay anyway. We can't ban people from doing those things, but we can encourage more community-minded actions.

I could flag some big accounts, but it wouldn't make much difference and they could wipe me out. The Steem Flag Rewards effort concentrates on trying to persuade smaller fish to change their ways. It works sometimes.

I wonder how a different a platform Steem could be if...

We have to work with what we have unless higher powers decide to fork it again. No system is perfect. It's up to the users what future it has.
