Poloniex Steem wallet problem

Poloniex has been getting some pretty bad press of late thanks to the DDoS attack in April / May and the ongoing problems with the Ethereum network which happened following several large ICO launches in recent weeks. Indeed, Ether deposits and withdrawals are still blocked as I write this.

Steem problems seems to be the latest in a line of worries. Yesterday I discovered that Steem was blocked.

This was probably a fairly smart move by Poloniex. I know that I'd prefer to have transactions blocked rather than risk having them lost due to gremlins somewhere between the web app and the wallet.

Thankfully the situation was resolved pretty quickly and transactions are flowing again today, although without any statement from Poloniex, and (conspiracy theories aside) it's interesting to note that a fairly large spike occurred during the outage...
