Blockchain of Opportunity - July 4th
July 4th is especially meaningful for us Steemians as it was on this day in 2016 that the Steem blockchain first began to distribute STEEM to content creators all over the world. This was a landmark moment: the first time in history that a fully decentralized token mechanism began autonomously distributing rewards. Steemit did not begin paying for the content, the Steem blockchain did, and it was the people using it--you--who determined what deserved to be rewarded. In fact, Steem remains the only blockchain autonomously rewarding its users for the content of their minds.
The Blockchain of Opportunity
At Steemit, we talk about Steem being the Blockchain of Opportunity--a blockchain that unlocks an unlimited universe of potential for entrepreneurs. It was those content creators with the courage to join us on this crazy journey who were, and still are, the entrepreneurs that built the foundations upon which this whole ecosystem stands.
We believe that Steem is the Blockchain of Opportunity, not because it caters to entrepreneurs, but because it turns everyone that uses it into an entrepreneur. In a world where technological disruption seems to be eliminating jobs and prospects, we believe that this aspect of Steem is more than just a feature ... it's a mission.
A Holiday for All Steemians
While July 4th is being celebrated by Americans as the day we gained independence from a tyrannical empire that we felt was unfairly limiting opportunity, we hope that for Steemians everywhere, this day can mark our independence from all the gatekeepers who withhold opportunities from the builders of the world.
Steem on!

thanks for your co-operate.
By and large, I have enjoyed the last six months. I have been earning rewards here, something I was unable to do anywhere else to such an extent in such a short period of time. Without STEEM, I'm not sure what I would be doing, but it most likely wouldn't be earning something for my writing.
Perhaps it is fitting that Independence Day was the official Steemit launch. A declaration of independence from the world's central financing and banking, independence from boundaries and control, independence from geographical sovereignty, and independence from any individual or group that would have us think one way or another.
Now, we just have to figure out a way to tame our own Human Nature, so that we don't repeat the pitfalls of human history here. I believe it can be avoided, but it won't happen if we simply simply surrender to what's been done before over and over again and act or react accordingly.
I suppose, though, we are free to choose that path, too, but I'd rather we didn't. It would be nice to choose the higher, harder road for once, like I would say happened 242 years ago. We can gain freedom, but can we hold onto it?
all of a sudden 'its in our nature to destroy ourselves' lyrics come to my head ( borederline autistic )
couldnt tell you who sings the song, just that its on tony hawks pro skater 2 ( or was it 3 )
I also need not to repeat man's history.
Debemos estar alegres por esta independencia tecnológica y agradecidos con las personas que hicieron posible que esto se convirtiera en realidad.
Ahora debemos continuar el legado y dejar para futuras generaciones un CONTENIDO DE CALIDAD.
We must be happy for this technological independence and grateful to the people who made it possible for this to become a reality.
Now we must continue the legacy and leave for future generations a QUALITY CONTENT.
ive always envied the bilingual
Great day to celebrate, then! We've all benefited from the opportunity we have around here. It is necessary that initiatives such as this take up space on other platforms. Here's to steemit and all the good things to come in the future.
as per your advice , i need to do good reputation in steemit.
XD
i learned that lesson first week ;)
ok thanks for your advice. i remember . thanks again
Nicely said!
Being independent from established solutions and able to create our own future is definitely worth having a holiday and should furthermore be celebrated 365 days per year - on the Steem blockchain :-)
Steem on!
Thank you all who've made this opportunity come to life and to all who sustain this incredible, creative ecosystem. Steemit is an outlet that I am truly grateful for.
I can't think of another place that affords me these same opportunities to learn something new, participate in a revolution of content sharing, and earn for proving there's a brain in my head. Imperfect, yet still an outlet that satiates my desire to create while surpassing the capability of every other social platform I've ever used in the past (I remember when it was just AOL...😂).
I've never experienced an online community where my desire to create has been so uninhibited. I'm free to create content as I wish and others are free to read it. The beauty is in the simplicity and uncensored nature of this system that affords us a place to be free and explore.
There is no place like home and Steemit, to me, feels closer to home than I've ever gotten before as a creator. Truly a blockchain of opportunity and for that I say THANK YOU10
STEEM ON, DREAM BIG, LIVE FREE
No kidding ❤❤❤❤
Such a great place to hang out!
Thank-you Steemit 🙌
yes you're right its really a nice idea. #steemit
yes I have good friends like you which is impossible without steemit @yogajill
I feel the same way. Welcome home!
why do i feel compelled to upvote the 'declined payout' posts / comments.
is it the 'forbidden-ness' of it?
Return it to the pool, why not? 😋 It came from the pool, so circle complete.
Steem is the best blockhain ever! July 4th is the day I wouldn't forget. From now on, many decentralized application will be using Steem blockchain and we are all witness on this. Long lived Steem
Funnily enough, July 4th is also celebrated by all physicists as the day where the Higgs boson was discovered (in 2012). I believe knowledge (and here is our feeble connection with the topic) is useful for getting independent from the gatekeepers you mentioned. Knowledge helps to fight obscurantism for instance...
Anyways, happy birthday Steem!
here in the US we are doing great things, like human rights violations! Separating children from parents is a good thing right? Dehumanising people looking for a better life? Why wouldn't we do that.
"from all the gatekeepers who withhold opportunities from the builders of the world."
Actually I think you forgot some
The inherent contradictions of capitalism will destroy it.
The gov is the only thing that keeps capitalism alive. Imperialism is the highest stage of capitalism, capital accumulation and the tenancy of the rate of profit to fall cannot be stopped without it.
