There are people comprising their earnings by flagging spam here. This platform has massive potential and some want to try and stop it filling with trash
I'm not sure there's anyone wilfully trying to "stop it" (I suspect you mean kill it off?) there is, however, a large portion who could kill it off by their selfish greed. In fact, there's also an element who unwittingly harm Steemit by their actions simply because they do not understand the whole ecosystem of Steem, Steemit and Steemians.
I meant people can deter bad content by flagging to zero value. The whales have that power and an interest in Steemit gaining credibility /value. It's all a big experiment
