RE: Current version info

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

If this version is based on v0.22.1, isn't it basically the same version with v0.22.5 as well?
I don't get how it is a "sign of protest"?

Sort:

That's the difference between "sign of protest" and "act of protest"
Not being in top20 makes it impossible to act, I'm just signalling disagreement.
Preparing hard fork (we, as Steem community, witnesses and devs did that successfully many times, but it require a lot of work, preparations and tests). To make it safe, we should use certain procedures (voting for fork after given block) there's no conditions for that at this moment.

As your name could imply, we Got To Go if Tron has to stay.

GTG chain I support!

Actually it stands for Gandalf the Grey :-)

I know that, was punny tho

I mean why didn't you choose v0.22.2 instead of v0.22.1 if v0.22.4444 means a "sign of protest"?

Because it would stay on minority fork, rendering nodes to be useless, potentially too deep in there to recover, my nodes being down means a lot of services not working that relay on them. Also it would look to the community as we given up. It's pretty much similar to just running your own copy of Steem in own basement (unless deciding to actually hardfork and start brand new chain, but still in this universe, we would be absent)
