Time To Eliminate The Fear: STEEM Is Kicking Ass!!!! 😁 😁

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

People seem to love to wrap themselves up in fear and negativity.

I read an article yesterday calling for @ned to step in because everything is being ruined. While I will admit that, in my opinion, much of what is taking place is extremely distasteful, STEEM is far from being ruined.

In fact, delving into what is going on makes one conclude that STEEM is kicking ass. There is a reason it is the top blockchain right now when one uses reasonable analytics.

If STEEM is being ruined, how come it is still processing over 1.6M transactions per day? That is almost 1M more than the closest competitor according to bloctivity.info.

We received word last week, via a video that was also on Dlive, that the sign up process is being tended to and we should see measurable results in 2-4 weeks. The last two days saw 17K and 8.5K signups respectively. Certainly, we are not sure if that was from a change in the sign up process or just a clearing out of the backlog, but it is a step in the right direction.

Also, according to @penguinpablo's numbers, we crossed 800K users total. The 1M milestone is just around the corner.

I know some people have an issue with Alexa rankings since they tend not to tell the entire story. Nevertheless, they do show trends so we will use them from that perspective.

Steemit.com is now a top 1000 site in the world.

D.Tube is totally on fire. Just a few weeks ago, the U.S. ranking was in the 70K range with the world ranking over 100K.

Now look at it....

For the fourth straight month the trajectory on the chart is heavily upward. YouTube going on their censorship rampage is paying dividends for D.Tube.

Another site that is shooting up the charts is Dmania. Memes are very popular it seems.

While the overall numbers might not be that impressive, look again at the trajectory. It is almost straight up.

But wait, there is more.....

You ever use Dsound? Evidently someone is....

Finally there is Zappl...potentially a twitter killer...

There are 5 applications posts, one (Steemit) is in the top 1K while the other 4 are showing strong upward trends. These same four, according to Alexa, are still in their first 6 months. What is amazing is 3 of them could be top 100K sites in the U.S. by the end of the month if the pace continues. For a blockchain that is less than two years old, I think that is a terrific accomplishment.

All this looks pretty positive to me.

We also got an update from the developers about the SMT protocol. In that update it was stated that we are not too far away from seeing a testnet established. That is really good news. This means that SMTs, at least at the testing stage, are just around the corner. To me, this is the STEEM holy grail. It is what will separate STEEM from most other blockchains.

Thus, my only conclusion is STEEM is kicking ass. Even the developers are communicating more which is a grand achievement.

Sure we could dwell upon the negative and how certain people appear intent on blowing up STEEM. The bottom line is STEEM is too powerful for any one group to destroy. There are 60K daily active users on here, most of whom are not involved in what is taking place. There are also a ton of developers and heavy hitters who are programming amazing things that we will see end up on this blockchain in the next 4-6 months.

Step back and look at the forest instead of the trees. Everything is moving forward.

Now if the price of cryptos would only move up...well that is another story. 😁

Dtube and Dlive will pose a serious threat to Youtube in the coming years, mark my words! Btw, I just found out about Dsound, LOL!

Anyone who isn't buying the Steem dip will be buying themselves a ticket to the FOMO-Train when the next rally starts!

New sign ups are one thing and retention is another thing.. these days every whales own 50 bot accounts.. And needless to say about the inequality in Steem distribution makes it very hard to retain new users.. Those who joined in 2016 got thousands of SP from one line comments.. if you know what I mean

yeah there is a demand for steem product for sure follow me i always give to my followers thanks i will follow you

So you upvote your comment 100% and upvote the article 7%? Ha!

i will upvote your comment and the article.. neither at 100 percent but I will struggle with my inner turmoil and see if I can manage not to upvote my own comment for the 5000th odd time in a row.

Well played @tarazkp! :D

Some days I really wish I could morph into @grouchyKat for a few seconds, bwhahaha...

The transaction volume is definitely amazing, especially given the fact that the blockchain doesn´t even reach 0.2% of it´s full capacity while processing more than a million transfers each day.

Though we got to admit as well that a big bunch of these transactions are most likely based on bid bots and the memos of similar services that get send automatically. It doesn´t make the number any less impressive but IMO diminishes the sensation about the actual usage at least a little bit.

Nevertheless, steem will definitely succeed in the longrun :)

It's so easy to look at Steem and think: "OMG what is this trainwreck?"

This is because our blockchain is more transparent than every other blockchain. Everyone can see where the rewards are going. If the average person could do this on other chains there would be outrage there as well.

I for one believe that Steem's transparency is exactly what's going to make it evolve faster and better than other chains. The communities of other chains don't see the problem while here we are staring it straight in the face. Take a deep breath and be patient.

very well said! I agree wholeheartedly.

I think what will make Steem grow is its environment. Not just steemit itself, but sites likes busy, esteem, dmania, decentmemes, dtube, dsound, dlive and so much more! This all gives visibility to an awesome blockchain!
Here's the growth on decentmemes

Thanks for that @julienbh.

I was not aware of that one....another application seeing incredible growth.

Facebook became Facebook because of the huge number of active daily users it was able to engage, if Steemit and other Steem apps are able to bring in more and more users, there is every reason why Steem will be as grand a success as FB or even bigger...

Well, as of today, there is no Facebook equivalent on the STEEM blockchain. Maybe Appics will become one or one of the SMT apps coming next week. Steemit is not a social media platform, but a blogging platform, which is a huge difference in my opinion.

I agree. I was not talking about any specific use case but the number of active users. A number of social media platforms like Zappl, Dtube, Steepshot are being built on top of Steem and something akin to FB may as well come up. When and how that happens remain to be seen but with SMT being rolled out in a few months and if it really can help tokenize internet content as promised, many popular websites and blogs may start using them.

We need a Steembook for short-form posts and photos.

theres zappl and steepshot

Neither of them are Facebook alternatives. Zappl is a twitter alternative and steepshot the steem-based Instagram.

yes I thought you meant twitter (short form text) and photos (insta), lolz

Your on task, @taskmaster4450 there always seems to be a delay in our minds when it comes to exponential growth, And I guess thats how we see Steemit, like any ecosystem that is constantly growing needs resitance patterns so to weed out bigger potential problems in the future for even better growth by market forces and the overall social motivation ( Selfish Gene) memes i.e Richard Dawkins) So those that play that part for the platform are the naysayers, haters, scammers etc, show me that the Steemit ecosystem is progressing like a growing virtual organism, overcoming resistances from the various free radicals that are found in any ecosystem which is bolstered by app innovation etc that are a metaphor for a healthy immune system . I have been emailing folks that I subscribed to on YouTube about Steemit and dtube and have heard some are going to make the jump and one has almost 200k. I encourage other steemians to do the same. You are right to be happy about what you shared about steemits sucess, because your right.

So why is the STEEM price so low?

If I had to guess, it is a lack of marketing and the fact that it isnt well known.

But price action tends not to mirror what is taking place.

Some of the top ten coins arent even out yet they are priced up there...

So markets will be markets.

All good signs and you are right the future looks bright!
I wonder if these new singups will cause that more vests will go to the minnow and to see that the system still will be working.
People signing up is great, but is important for the community that they stay aboard! If 80% of the new signups will become hibernated accounts the profit of the bigger number of signup is wasted.
According to the stats we are wth 800k but only 60k of active users. Should we worry about this?
