There is so much new information these days it is hard to keep up!

Plus the NHS is constantly changing - once you get into your speciality it is impossible to keep track of things in general.

Specialisation has its advantages but sadly one of the problems is that you lose sight of the connections between different diseases and I think it can hinder progress in some respects.

The time it has taken people to consider the importance of the microbiome is a good example of this I think.
