Marriage is a God ordained institution, it is more of a spiritual union than physical. In order to avoid delay, marrying the wrong partner and to experience happiness in marriage, you need to be prepared spiritually.
The First step is to develop an intimate relationship with God. Relationship with God begins the moment you surrender your life to Him and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

You have to be mature spiritually while waiting for the right partner. Study God's word daily, be fervent in prayers, read books on spiritual growth, be dedicated to God's service.
God instituted the marriage union, He's the only one capable of making you a good match, trust him to make the right choice for you.
Matthew 19: 4-6 "4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made[a] them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’[b] 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?[c] 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Genesis 2:18 "The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

Hebrews 13: 4 "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge"
God purposed marriage for the happiness of humans and the prevention of sexual immorality.
