When we receive Christ into our hearts and are baptized we are making a public proclamation of our faith and our loyalty to the Lord.

But John opposed him, saying: I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me? 15 But Jesus answered him, Let it be now, for thus it is fitting that we fulfill all righteousness. Then he left him. 16 And Jesus, after he was baptized, immediately came up out of the water; and, behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and coming upon him. 17 And there was a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Let's remember our childhood, surely like me you admired someone older and while in some game we imitated that person we were looking at. This is common among children, what we did was model the language, actions or ideas of the people we admired, as time passes some people outgrow that way of acting. Today we, as children of God, have this privilege of imitating the Lord Jesus Christ and doing so for a lifetime. Through the teaching and learning of his word, day by day we become more and more like him, above all, we identify with him and baptism. It is another way to publicly identify with him in his death, burial and resurrection.

In the gospel of Matthew the Lord Jesus Christ tells his disciples "Go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Let us remember that Our Lord Jesus Christ at the beginning of his already public ministry has decided to be baptized by John the Baptist, this disciple called people to repent and confess their sin then baptize them in the Jordan, the latter was the sign of the decision that these They had taken.

Let us remember that the Lord Jesus Christ was sinless and yet he joined the entire crowd at the Jordan River to be baptized by John. We follow the example of baptism and are publicly confessing our faith in Jesus Christ, that he is our savior and we fully identify with him.

Baptism is a very important symbol, let us remember that this is not the reason for our salvation, faith in Jesus Christ is what saves us, baptism is demonstrating our faith publicly AND our union with Christ and the rest of our brothers in faith.

Cuando recibimos a Cristo en nuestro corazón y nos bautizamos estamos haciendo una proclamación pública de nuestra fe y de nuestra lealtad hacia el Señor.

Mas Juan se le oponía, diciendo: Yo necesito ser bautizado por ti, ¿y tú vienes a mí? 15 Pero Jesús le respondió: Deja ahora, porque así conviene que cumplamos toda justicia. Entonces le dejó. 16 Y Jesús, después que fue bautizado, subió luego del agua; y he aquí los cielos le fueron abiertos, y vio al Espíritu de Dios que descendía como paloma, y venía sobre él. 17 Y hubo una voz de los cielos, que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado, en quien tengo complacencia.

Recordemos nuestra infancia, seguramente al igual que yo usted admiraba alguien mayor y mientras en algún juego imitábamos a esa persona que mirábamos. Esto es común entre los niños, lo que hacíamos era modelar el lenguaje, las acciones o las ideas de las personas que admirábamos, mientras pasa el tiempo algunas personas superan esa forma de actuar. Hoy nosotros como hijos de Dios, tenemos este privilegio de imitar al señor Jesucristo y hacerlo para toda la vida, a través de la enseñanza y aprendizaje de su palabra día día nos parecemos más y más a él sobre todo nos identificamos con él y el bautismo es otra de las maneras de identificarnos públicamente con él en su muerte sepultura y resurrección.

En el evangelio de Mateo el señor Jesucristo le dice a sus discípulos "Id haced discípulos en todas las naciones bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo". Recordemos que Nuestro Señor Jesucristo en el inicio de su ministerio ya público ha decidido ser bautizado por Juan el Bautista, este discípulo llamaba a las personas a arrepentirse y confesar su pecado luego bautizarlos en el Jordán, esto último era la señal de la decisión que estos habían tomado.

Recordemos que el señor Jesucristo no tenía pecado alguno y aún así se unió a toda la multitud en el río Jordán para que Juan lo bautizara. Nosotros seguimos el ejemplo del bautismo y estamos confesando públicamente nuestra fe en Jesucristo, que él es nuestro salvador y nos identificamos plenamente con él.

El bautismo es un símbolo muy importante, recordemos que este no es el motivo de nuestra salvación, la fe en Jesucristo es lo que nos salva, el bautismo es demostrar nuestra fe públicamente Y nuestra unión con Cristo y el resto de nuestros hermanos en la fe.
