Our topic today: The Place of Stock-taking
Isaiah 63:1-19. God often used another wicked nation to judge his people when they go astray. However, such wicked nation later receives its own own share of God's fiery judgment. In isaiah 63:1-6 describes how God trampled on his enemies at the final day. There were no other wicked nation to use, so he did it himself in vs 5-6. It is very easy to go on and on with life when things seem to be going on smoothly. However, whether life goes on smoothly or not, one of the tips of healthy living, especially spiritual, is Stock-takings. In our passage the Israelites could testify to the total goodness of the Lord. Nevertheless, when things were not going on well, they took stock in vs10,11. After this, they continue with soul searching by going through the history of their relationship with the Lord. They remained God of their relationship with him and started claiming the Lord's promises for them. As children of God, we do not need to be under God's discipline before we evaluate our lives and work towards a deeper relationship with him. Cultivate the habit of daily soul searching and self a examination, so you may not be judged. PLAYER; Lord, teach us to number our days that we might gain a heart of wisdom.
