ECHOS FROM SLEEPING HEROS

in #steemchurch7 years ago

My simple research into the biographies of some popular Hymn writers revealed interesting facts about their lives.
One intriguing fact is that majority of them died at a very early age, even when their days on earth was worthwhile.
In the world today, they still echo from their sleep through the many lives touching hymns they wrote and their names still rings like a bell in various parts of the world.
In our church congregations, in our homes, gathering etc.

PHILIP DODDRIDGE, the writer of the Hymn 'oh Happy day" died at the age of 49! (1702-1751)

"O happy day that fixed my choice
On thee my saviour and my God
Well, may this glowing heart rejoice
And tell its rapture all abroad

Happy day, happy day
When Jesus washed my sins away...

REGINALD HEBER, Wrote the Hymn " Holy, Holy'
He died at the age of 43! (1783-1826)

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning our songs shall rise to thee
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity!

SARAH FULLER ADAMS wrote this Hynm "Take my life" perhaps she did or didnt realize how close she was already to God. She died at the age of 43(1805-1848)

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to thee
Take my moment and my days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

FRANCES RIDLEY HARVERGAL was a very brilliant woman!

She started reading at the age of three(3) and started writing at the age of four(4)
At the age of seven(7) she wrote a poem.
By the time she was age twenty-one(21) she had memeorized the whole New Testament, the whole book of Psalms, Isaiah, Proverbs and all books of the Minor Prohets.
She died at the age of 43 (1836-79)

These and many more people lived life, though not for long but they left footprints in the sand of time and still echo from their sleep.
Life isn't as long as we imagined, live it to the fullest for God with prints behind for the next generation to hear your echos!!!
