Follow The Example Of Jesus
Today I want to share a short reflection in these difficult days that Venezuela is going through. We must always follow the great example that Jesus left us.
Since the exodus, the desert symbolizes temptation and trial. For all to be similar to his brothers, Jesus had a confrontation with the devil in the desert. Although Jesus was tempted in everything, he never gave up. His example shows us how we can defeat the devil.
Satan used a triple strategy. First, he adapted his temptations to that in which Christ could be vulnerable. He tried Jesus at his weakest point - he tried to lead him to misuse his power to make bread at a time when he was hungry. Second, Satan quoted the Scriptures. This covered the temptation with a thin layer of virtue. Being the devil himself an experienced scripture quoted, we must nautically claim to believe in anyone just because she "knows the Bible." Third, in the "temptation of the kingdom," Satan showed that he was willing to offer anything to win the soul of Jesus. If you have a price for which you will come your soul, Satan will have pleasure in paying it.
Jesus showed how to overcome temptation. First, he cited the Scripture itself each time he gave an answer. In times of crisis, having the word of God in our hearts is what makes the difference between victory and failure. In the second place, Jesus did not yield. He never did what he knew to be wrong. Once Jesus at all times refused to sin, Satan finally decided to leave him for a time. "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4: 7).
Jesus showed the way to victory over temptation. Are we going to follow him?
The exemplary way of life of Jesus teaches us how we should be. In addition, his sacrifice frees us from sin and death (Romans 6:23). If it were not for him, our life would be sad and hopeless. So, never let anxiety or life's worries prevent us from imitating the model that the greatest man of all times left us: Jesus Christ.
