Bible Reading: Proverbs 5:15-19

key verse: “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled; but whore mongers and adulterers God will judge” Heb. 13:4

INTRODUCTION

All believers in Christ are called to be morally and sexually pure 2 Cor. 11:2, Titus 2:5, 1 Peter 3:2. All believers who expect to make heaven at last must control their bodies “in sanctification and honor 1 Thess. 4:4 No believer should be lusting after sex 1 Thess. 4:5

THE LESSONS

1 The Bible teaches the following:

  • Sexual intimacy is reserved for the marriage relationship and is approved and blessed by God only in that state Gen. 2:24, Song of sol. 2:7. This is honoured by God.

  • Adultery and sexual intercourse before marriage and others are abomination before God, these acts cannot allow one into the Kingdom of God Proverbs 5:3-5, Rom. 1:24-32, 1 Cor. 6:9-10, Gal. 5:19-21

  • As believers, we must exercise self control with reference to all sexual matters before marriage and even after marriage Gal. 5:22-24

  • Sexual immorality is not limited to consummated sexual act. Any intimate sexual activity or play outside the marriage relationship include:

a.The touching of the intimate parts of the body,

b.Viewing another person’s nakedness, in this term is clearly a transgression of God’s moral standard for His people (Lev. 18:6-30; 20:11-12, 17, 19-21, 1 Cor. 6:18, 1 Thess. 4:3)

c.Any unjustifiable biblical conduction Gal. 5:19, Eph. 4:19, 2 Peter 2:2,18

2 Exploiting or taking advantage of someone means to deprive another of the moral purity God desires for that person in order to satisfy your own self-centered desires.

  • If you arouse in another person sexual desires that cannot be righteously fulfilled, you are exploiting or taking advantage of that person (1 Thess. 4:6, Eph. 4:19)

  • Lust is having a sexual desire that if fulfilled would be a violation of God’s law and another person’s purity Eph. 4:19,23, 1 Peter 2:18, Matthew 5:28

  • For your marriage to be honourable in all

i.You must drink water out of thine own cistern Proverbs 5:15
ii.Appreciate your sources of love Proverbs 5:18-20
iii. This is God’s gift for you to enjoy Eccl. 9:7-9
iv. Learn to cherish with pleasure purity and thanksgiving your God given partner Proverbs 19:14 take note of Proverbs 5:19

CONCLUSION

Be sure to enjoy and appreciate the companionship God has given to you, by this act you will honour your marriage. images 2.jpeg
