BEATITUDES
Welcome to my blog once again!
Beatitudes means blessings. In beatitudes recorded by st. Mattew (mattew 5:3-12), Jesus explained nine attributes a good christians must possess and the blessings attached to those who live by it.
Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God."
The poor in spirit are those who gave up everything be it material or any relationships that could prevent them from entering the kingdom of God. Even when they lose all the earthly treasures, they know that heaven awaits them.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted
Those who mourn are people who are sorrowful for the evils going around in this world, how the law of God is been violated and misinterpreted. They will be comforted with God's word and the arrival of the soon coming King; Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
The meek are the humble. Those who humble themselves before thy Lord for Him to lift them up. God will not allow them to see shame.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. For they shall be satisfied.
Hunger and thirst can be seen as a strong desire. Those who desire to live a godly life and deprive themselves of all earthly pleasures and treasures will find help in God. God will give them comfort.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
The merciful are the people who are kind, not heartless or wicked. They easily forgive those who offends and betrays them. The merciful also stretches their hands to the needy. The merciful will find mercy before God.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
The pure in heart, are those whose heart have been purified by the blood of the lamb. In their hearts, they always thinks of doing good deeds. Only the pure in heart shall see Jesus.
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.
The peace makers are those who have already made peace with God by confession their sins, turn from their evil way and accept Christ as their Lord and personal saviour. They lead people to God, discourage people from doing evil. They are called the sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
These are the people who are persecuted because they serve and obey God's law. Let take our northern brethren for instance. The reward for such people, is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when men revile and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.
