Speaking In Tongues

1 Corinthians 14 vs 14-15 says;

14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding.

This is a supernatural ability in which a beleiver communicates directly with God from His spirit in a language which cannot be understood by the human mind.

The following are the importance or benefits we derive from speaking in tongues;

  • It builds and strenghtens your spirit as can be seen in 1 Corinthians 14 vss 14 above.
  • It helps you pray in God's will as can be seen in Romans 8 vs 26-27 which says;

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

  • Opens up the flow of the supernatural (the gifts of the Holy spirit) in your life as seen in 1 Corinthians 14 vs 18 as well as in 1 Corinthians 12 vs 7-11.

However what are the gifts of the Holyspirit being talked about here??. Lets quickly see what it is about below;

The Gifts Of The Spirit

1 Corinthians 12 vs 7-11 says that;

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

The gifts of the Spirit are meant for every believer. Therefore I will talk about the diverse gifts of the spirit and how to receive and function effectively in them. Nonetheless, I will also be dropping scriptural references that we can read up on later.

    This is a divine rebelation from God concerning a specific future occurence and how to apply His word or the counsel for it. See Acts 11 vs 28-30, Acts 21 vs 10-11.

Note that diverse kinds of tongues are different from personal edification. below are the differences;

  1. Diverse tongues is a gift given by the spirit of God to believers as He wills while tongues for personal edification is for all believers that have been baptized in the Holy Spirit (it is the same as the tongue received as the intial evidence duriing Holy spirit baptism)

  2. Diverse tongues is for the edification of the church hence it is must be interpreted while tongues for personal edification is not for the church. In other words it is communication strictly between God and you.

  • Interpretation of Tongues
    This is the supernatural ability to understand and make known in a common language an utterance spoken in tongues. 1 Corinthians 14 vs 12-14.

    3.i believe the baptism of the holy spirit is very important for all believers.after being born again,we are meant to submit our lives to the hands of the holy spirit.

Wow this is intriguing,speaking in tongues is so important to the believer,the primary way to pray in the new convenant is in tongues,and when we pray in tongues we generate power to effect change and work signs,wonders and miracles.Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
And also we build up ourself and most holy faith,you can't enjoy the fullness of the new creation without speaking in tongues.Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.

God bliss you brother for inspiring us on the gift of the holy spirit

I don't believe in speaking in tongues, most Christians do fake it,though some are real
