THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

In Psalm 23 we see how God provide, guide and protect us.

A Shepherd is a person who herds, feeds or guards herds of sheep. A Shepherd represents intimate relationship in aspect that a king might do what's best for the majority, a Shepherd knows each one of his sheep. In the parable of the lost sheep Jesus asks: what man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the one that is lost until he finds it?

Luke 15:4 (KJV)
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

A Shepherd is mainly concern and care not only for all his sheep as a whole but also for each and every single one. This is exactly how God cares for us, He knows everything about us, He knows every hair on our head, He knows when one of us is lost and will definitely make every possible provision to find us through His son JESUS CHRIST

The Lord is our Shepherd and we are the sheep. We should open our eyes to how much we really need and rely on God for everything. If we don't see ourselves has His sheep, we can't see God as our Shepherd. When David says 'I shall not want' he is acknowledging how completely reliant he is on God as his Shepherd.
If you know God personally as your Shepherd, 'you shall not want' because God will ensure that you have everything good in life just like a good Shepherd will do for his sheep.

God loves you and me, he is the good Shepherd. He will never leave you so trust him.
