In Fire's Blaze or Winter's Hold

Some say love burns bright as flame
Consuming all with passion's name
From what I've felt in love's embrace
I hold with those who praise its blaze
But if love cools and turns to frost
I think I’ve seen when warmth is lost
That frozen hearts, though still and slight
Can end love’s fire just as right

So whether love burns hot or cold
In fire’s blaze or winter’s hold
It’s in the heart that love survives
In warmth or chill, it stays alive
For love is more than heat or ice
It’s in the balance, in the price
Of giving all, through warmth or chill
A steady flame, or quiet still
