ETERNAL SECURITY IN CHRIST

There is a common belief among some Christians that once a sinner is saved, he is always saved. Do you believe this? Why? Well, this is not true. The truth is that if the sinner that is now saved or born again can keep his own side of the contract, he will remain saved and secured in Christ.

But, if he does not keep his own part, which is continuing to abide in Christ and allow his Word to abide in him, he would be lost.

Do not misunderstand our security in Christ. Those who believe and teach that once a sinner he will remain saved even if he backslides and die in sin are looking at it only on God’s side. Salvation is a contract.

You commit your life to Christ and God has the duty to keep you through Christ; but if you decide to withdraw your commitment, what will God keep?

God cannot force us to continue in Christ: remember that a man has a free will, and God never force man to be saved. Also, He will not force anybody who wants to go back from fallowing Christ to remain.

By the way, how can a sinner come to Christ and receive salvation and yet continue to live in sin? Can we say that he is really saved? What type of heaven can he go, given the fact that nothing defiled will be in heaven? Rev. 21:27. It is only those who have purified themselves that would be kept by God and have hope when Christ shall come for His own.

When we're saved we're sealed by the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption.

(Ephesians 4:30 NIV) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
