How does one live with the consciousness of such greatness?

When I was writing the posts about Beglik Tash, off topic I came across material on the Internet that I had actually read before as well. But this is material that is difficult to make sense of from today's perspective, sounds rather conspiratorial, and has no modern basis and application to lean on. And yet, I think that it helps certain parts of the society, strongly patriotically oriented, nationalistic rather, in their aspirations and visions of history, essence and sentiments regarding this country.

Every country develops its own nationalistic theories of greatness, I'm sure. "Greatness", what a beautiful word used for such ugly purposes these days, and especially viral in Bulgaria in recent weeks, for political reasons of course.
Well, what I read at the time when I wrote the posts was about the mountain itself, where the place is located, about its "sanctity", the expeditions that were organized there, led to the mysterious death of the daughter of the Bulgarian communist leader and subsequently quickly classified.

Every Bulgarian, and not only, knows about the sanctity of another mountain - Rila, with its seven lakes. Popularized by the White Brotherhood and their leader Petar Dunov, practicing to this day paneurthymia and sun salutations every year on the Divine New Year on August 19.
I think that there is no Bulgarian who has not heard of this spiritual leader from the past, whose talks were written and published in books that are quoted to this day. One of them I read again recently and I may have shared with you what horror and fear this apocalyptic prediction causes in people who have gone to live abroad, rather nationalistic if you ask me, of course. It is that all Bulgarians who have gone to live abroad must return home, because a time will come when everything will be under water, only Bulgaria and its inhabitants will survive. 😂

Two days ago for the first time I read an opinion that this man is a false prophet, until now no one dared to say anything about this holy man. I too, although I do not feel the need for a guru, a guide, a leader, and this is quite far from me, I have read some of his talks and he is generally perceived as a holy man by everyone.

But this time my thought was about the other mountain, Strandzha, where the Beglik Tash sanctuary is located. And while Rila has been labeled as one of the "highest energy places in the world", Strandzha is an ancient information repository of immense importance to all of humanity. The story involves Egyptians, an Egyptian goddess, and aliens.

We continue further with the Black Sea. The Black Sea in its essence is not a real sea, it is a terribly dirty puddle because of the unorganized sewage of the settlements along the coast and the unwillingness of maintenance on the part of the rulers. Moreover, it is even dangerous to swim in it because of the dead currents. On average, 40 people drown each year on this 200 km stretch of beach. But this is nothing compared to the version that the Biblical flood happened here and that Noah's ark was built here and now lies at its bottom. In general, at its bottom lie remains of an ancient civilization, etc.

This is such greatness! The area around, I don't see what else. But imagine what these myths and legends do to a person's psyche. How does one live with the consciousness of such greatness? 🤔 Of course, especially when one does not have the ability to reflect on where this greatness comes from and whether it is greatness at all. For the condition of the people at the present time, or even at any time, does not correspond to this greatness of antiquity. Moreover, Bulgarians are not good people, they have never been good, and not only poverty or bad historical fate are to blame for this. They just seem to be that way. And to be proud of something that is around you, outside of you, but is not a part of you, seems quite pointless to me. There is no finished picture to be proud of.

At first I was going to write that this is something that goes without saying - that the great nations of the past are not so today. That maybe it was done on purpose because that's the purpose. But this conspiracy theory is not true, of course, it is just a consolation for people, for their miserable life.

IMG_20240624_155303.jpg

I have another theory of greatness instead, and it has never been about people. Well, maybe there were a few people, clans or groups, the Merovingians, the Carolingians, the Templars..., but not a whole nation with all the common people in it.
In the beginning were the gods. And they were the great ones. They ruled the individual peoples, they exploited them, of course. Then they left. They left the people to fend for themselves - to fight each other, conquer and kill each other. The population declines with each passing century, only some artifacts remain, traces of greatness, but it is not their greatness. It is someone else's. Besides, since when can a natural landmark ascribe greatness to the people who live around it? 🤔

The photos are from the early Byzantine fortress of Akra from the 6th century, which is located on the Black Sea coast. I think they show well what I mean. A new, national flag stuck on unmaintained ruins. Even the tourist steps were broken and impassable, everything was neglected and abandoned. We don't even care about our artifacts that show the once ancient grandeur... of the surrounding area. 😅 We are such good people.

steem.jpgSoul's Detour is a project started by me years ago when I had a blog about historical and not so popular tourist destinations in Eastern Belgium, West Germany and Luxembourg. Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you.

Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
Sometimes you can find the most amazing things even in the backyard of your house.😊🧐🧭|
