SteemFest⁴ updates - New names, heading to Bangkok, get ready for SteemFest Bangkok Bowling Bonanza and Win tickets (new!)

in #steemfest5 years ago

Excuse me not checking in last week. As we were heading to a family weekend I was crazy busy. Also we had the broker coming to finalise our house rental. This week was all about prepaying downpayments with several suppliers for the event, working on the SF4 program booklet & map, design issues, SteemFest Mobile app updates and... slowly preparing to head to Bangkok:

This Tuesday we'll be (finally) flying out and touching down on Wednesday in Bangkok. After touchdown I'll be helping on bringing the family to our temporarily "new home", a compromis I made with my GF. She: "Yes we can go to Bangkok three weeks prior to SteemFest, but we are not going to stay in a city center hotel for 4 weeks". So we found a place in the outskirts of the city, with about 45 minutes travel time to downtown, but where kids and gf (and daddy after prep duties) can chill laidback in a lush garden (it's the end of rainy season now) and a small pool. Also it's cost-efficient compared to the hotels in the city.

After checking in, zombie after 11 hour flight/15 hour travel, I immediately head back to the city for location inspections of closing dinner and... the SteemFest Bangkok Bowling Bonanza - which is in a bowling alley we will occupy at the end of Conference Day 1, after an (optional) visit to a nearby Temple: Wat Pathum Wanaram. The SteemFest Bowling Bonanza will be held in Blu-O Bowl @ Siam Paragon mall where we also have dinner options served, as well as some Thai Rum (if you want). The (amateur) tournament is on and I encourage you to form teams of 4 prior to heading to Bangkok. IIRC the winners of last year's Bear Bowling are back to defend their title. A combination of group games and knockout phase will ultimately lead to the SteemFest 4 Bangkok Bowling Bonanza Champions.

On Thursday I'm out in the city again for a full day trip together with the main catering supplier, as well as the audiovisual supplier and the livestream people to visit almost all venues for the 2 conference days and conference day 2 evening location. On Friday I'll be meeting with the Prince Palace Hotel to finalise the offering and make sure that all packages I'm sending there will actually be stored away for me :)

By the way, as I am typing this, I'm actually drinking a "Chang", one of Thailand's beer brands, brewed in Ayutthaya: I found a supplier here in Amsterdam and got a box, for our goodbye drinks with friends & family tomorrow. I like it. The beer has a history tho, word is, back in the days it used to have an extra high alcohol vol. resulting in sudden drunkness. Nowadays that is regulated, but it still got it's reputation :)

Oh... and this week Nate from @steemstyle-io announced his epic SteemFest t-shirt design which is available via SteemStyle.io:

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year. Everything is coming together to be an amazing conference.

Me too! It’s going to be a total blast!

Check my profile out guys, I need a boost

Good jhob, steem welcome to indonesia.

In bangkok now

How is it there now? Cannot wait to head there in three weeks from now!

Just booked my flight but looks like I'll be arriving a late on Day 1.

Imagine I'll be jet lagged as hell but hoping it won't be too late to make something of the evening.

Is there a cut off for check in?

Steemfest probably will be the best conference Steem has seen until now. While I will not be able to attend, for sure I will be tuned up and checking live everything that happens.
By the way, do you know if there is any live stream of the conference? If not I think that would be a great idea for it.

Yes there will be a livestream of both conference days. Just like previous years. It will be announced through @steemfest, the SteemFest newsletter and most probably air on https://youtube.com/steemfest and other channels...

There should be streams of the event. They had them last year during the presentations.

end of the rainy season?

You think ? Lol.....45 mins out of the city ? North around Rangsit Lamlukka perhaps?

Have a great trip :-)

Hey Nathen! I don't know about the specifics of the rain exactly, but I guess you are in Thailand :) I was under the impression it rains some days? When I talk with my suppliers there is heavy storms mixed with ฟ้าหลังฝน? And there is way more rain in October than November according to weather averages? How is it now?

Thanks for your wishes looking forward! We'll be staying in Bang Sue area, so not out of the city for sure, still close to metro / public transport / waterways, but the place we are staying is more laidback with a big garden. As said, its a compromis :) Will you be in Bangkok during SteemFest time?

The end of the rainy season is not easy to predict, but I guess it won't be until December. As we reach the end of the rainy season, it's becoming increasingly rare to have rain all day long (only a few hours and especially at night, at least that's the case here in Phuket) and it's more and more frequent to have several days in a row without it.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case next week when rain and thunderstorms are expected from China. I hope that from Wednesday onwards, the weather will improve as I too will land in Bangkok that day before heading to Tak province on Friday to see my sister-in-law.

Any tips on how to travel to the official hotel for the event from the airpot, please? :)

very nice, it's so wonderful feeling to attend into that steemfest. Where lot of them talking about steem. You are well informed about hotel booking, so those who want to go should hurry up and book a hotel. By the way, so the beer has history? Maybe that's why it taste good.

good luck in steemfest.

I like bajaj, but in Indonesia where my hometown lives, the bajaj like in the picture above hasn't turned out to have no public transportation like that in the city I live. what a unique bajaj, and I have never ridden it. really very interesting and I want to have it. 😂

Find my self reading this having no idea about it.

This must be a huge event!

Awesome. Good luck with organizing!
