Day 4 of testing out steemfollower

in #steemfollower7 years ago (edited)

I was surprised to see that @mahdiyari commented on my day 3 summary; however, he wasn't too impressed with the summaries of my first three days (1, 2, and 3), and I don't think he'll be too impressed with this day 4 summary either. He knows a lot more about how the steemfollower system works than me so it is understandable that he is difficult to impress. Regardless, I'm still just learning about the steemfollower system, and one day I might be able to post something he thinks is helpful or interesting :)

I learned a few things about steemfollower today which I thought were worth sharing.

Based on a comment I read in the Discord channel it seems like the 2x promote feature might actually cost two times as much for votes, and I'm assuming the 3x, 4x, and 5x posts will cost 3, 4, and 5 times as much respectively. This seems like a very costly way to get more exposure, but I plan to try the 3x promote out for a day to get a better understanding of how it works.

On the manual curation page it mentions, "Only Last Post of Every Account Will be Displayed", but one additional thing I read somewhere (I think in Discord) is that it is the last post you make or edit which can be helpful if you want to display a post that isn't your most recent post; however, it can be problematic if you don't know about the feature and do something like post a day 4 summary and then edit your day 3 summary to link to your day 4 summary.

On the manual curation page it also mentions "You Must Upvote at least 5 Post every day", and I read in the new rules post that the consequences of not doing this are that your posts will be hidden, and I'm assuming your posts would be shown again at some point after you make the required 5 votes for the day.

I also noticed somewhere in the Discord that if you vote for a post where the author points are less than what your vote is worth then you don't get full credit for your vote. I think I kind of already know about this from the steemfollower.com home page where it says, "It is possible to get upvote more than this amount, For example, one upvote from a whale!". In short, if you are a whale or even if you are a minnow with a vote worth more than $0.01 then you may want to be aware of this before you vote for a post where the author points are only $0.01. Possible solutions are not to vote for that post or adjust your voting percentage (if you have enough steem power to be able to adjust your voting percentage).

In Discord I also asked the question, "Is there a way to see the total number of steemfollower points in circulation?" as it would be interesting to know this number. It would be especially interesting to see how the amount of points in circulation changes over time. There is probably a way to get a rough idea of this number using information from the market, and from the list of posts to vote on.

Hi. I have found that 2x is ideal for the vote cost setting. At the default 1x I don't seem to get a steady flow of upvotes, but at 3x it gobbles up my $$$ faster than I can replenish it. 2x provides a steady stream of upvotes at a cost which I can easily replace through my (maximum 35) daily upvotes, which is do at a slow pace throughout the day (maybe 2-3 post per hours on average). Stick with SteemFollower. It is the BEST platform I have tried, and I have connected with TONS of very interesting, and like-minded, people here. Good luck...

Wow that is really interesting @transcript-junky. I have been looking for this answer since I first joined steemfollower, this is really helpful. I too am a big fan of steemfollower, I like the neutralized setting it gives us against those that post every 5 minutes. I have wrote my personal comments a few days ago of my thoughts on steemfollower and would be curious on your input. Thanks again, this is really helpful @transcript-junky!

I read your post about your steemfollower thoughts, and I thought it was good except for one part where you recommended mentioning "UPVOTE, RESTEEM, FOLLOW", because I tend to see spammers do that a lot and I typically associate those types of things with spammers (especially if that is all they bother to leave as a comment). However, it may just be me that perceives those things as spam so your recommendation to mention those things may actually be a good for people in general.

Good point. Thanks a lot your input is greatly appreciated @twodollars. I like to start or end the comment with that to save them the time to see if there was a vote or not from me, if they were wondering. I like the exclamation point it puts on the sentiment of the message, as of course that is what means the most. When we see a comment upvote, or really any other single word message we are appreciative, but we are much more greatly appreciative when we have a coherent explanation of the reason for that action. Ha, it's kind of like a teacher grading a book report. "Good book" probably doesn't land a kid a very high grade or impression from the teacher. thanks a lot @twodollars I really appreciate the effort and time, as I too am helping newer people get this program rolling so that these newbies can find a nice sub-community here that help them daily with their ongoing success.

I see what you mean that 3x gobbles up things too fast. I plan to try 2x to see how that goes.

Fatalistic article! There is a lot that goes into this feature. @mahdiyari has a new version coming out shortly, can't wait to see it.

Yes I just saw the Discord post about a new version, and it looks really good. BTW, your video about steemfollower was really good too, and shortly after I watched it I clicked your referral link to sign up, but I had clicked another referral link earlier so I'm not sure who got credit for my signup. Either way I wanted to mention that your video was very helpful.

FOLLOWED+UPVOTED--->Great post @twodollars, very insightful for those of us learning how to navigate steemfollower. I found your article here on steemfollower, so the promo worked in that respect. Don't worry, my upvote will not break you, I am still a minnow on here ha,ha. Keep up the good work, and best of luck to you!

It is nice to know that someone found the summaries helpful. It is also nice to see that the promo worked not only to get votes but to also get comments.
