Steemgg Newsletter Issue #2 + Gamers Competition #2
G'day Steemians, this is @stabilowl and Welcome to the Second Issue of Steemgg Newsletter. Each week, I will be reporting New games on the Steemgg Platform, reviewing a featured game, and run a competition so that everyone can get involved!
Special News
For the game devs out there, don’t forget Steemmonsters Game Jam is starting tomorrow, with over $1000 worth of prizes to be won. All you have to do is make a Steemmonster themed game and upload onto our itch.io game jam place for a chance to win. In addition, if you make a HTML5 Game for the Jam and upload it to Steemgg, you will automatically enter the Steemgg sponsored part of the competition with an additional 500 Steem to be won. For more info, check out our itch.io page. We will be making another announcement at the start of the Jam.
New Games this week
We are pleased to announce that now we have 11 games on our platform! The following games have been uploaded onto our platform in the last week:
Rage Blocks: This game by @felipejoys is a King of the Hill style game, where need to defeat the orange blocks and conquer all the bases in the game.
#Dailypetphotography Puzzle: Another pet related game by @kona, this is a simple puzzle game using a photo collage from the Daily Pet Photography contest.
Super Tile Maze: This game by @kevdude is a fun maze game where you try to find the shortest route to move your block from start to finish. |
Featured Game: 3anglez
This week’s feature game is 3anglez by @inn3r
3anglez is a fun and addictive dodge-em game where you have to dodge obstacles and destroy enemy “ships” in a triangle universe. You control a small black triangle by moving your mouse around (there is no need to hold down the mouse. You only need to click it once at the start of the game), dodging big blue triangles that moves across the screen, kind of like space rocks. You would also need to dodge an enemy fleet of small triangles which follows you around. If you get hit be the blue or red triangle, you die.
But that's not all. The goal of the game is actually to destroy as many red triangles with you can. Since the red triangles are slower than how you can manoeuvre the black triangle, you would want to move your triangle around the big blue triangle in a way that would make the red triangles crash into them. As you progress through the map, it gets harder as the big blue triangles moves in a more erratic fashion, making them hard to dodge.
You get points for each red triangle that you destroy. My high score so far is 108 points. I am not too sure how many triangles that translate to, as the score you get for each triangle is non-linear.
And here comes the part that I like the most about this game. You can actually use those points. By using the points you earned, you can buy gadgets that helps you with your journey: Speed Upgrade, Deflect, Time stopper, and Invincibility. If you buy the Speed upgrade, the speed of your movement increases permanently, and so each Speed Upgrade is more expensive than the previous.
The other three are gadgets that you buy to get them to appear in the map. Once they appear, you will need to “eat” it to activate it. The time stopper stops all red triangles, the deflect helps you deflect off the red triangles, and invincibility makes you invincible, so you can just crash into the red triangles to destroy them.
You can also earn extra points by posting your high score on twitter and completing surveys, all accessible from the gift page.
I really like 3anglez! It's intuitive but challenging to complete, and I really like the depth of this seemingly simple game. If you really like this game, you have the option to download it on Google Play as well. It's an awesome game that I would highly recommend!
Gamers Competition 1: Last week's results
Last week we had the Jump Fatty Competition for the best player. Thank you to all of those who participated. Jump Fatty is a difficult game, but it is additive in that even if you can't get anywhere past 30 second, you will keep playing hoping you can do better! Of the entries, there were some very impressive results, with times that were way past the 2 minutes mark. But there could only be one winner, so let's give a round of applause for @mys who achieve a fine record of a whooping 3 minute 11.58 seconds!
Congratulations, @mys, we will be sending you your 5 STEEM prize shortly. Also, congratulations to @silentstorm, @ferdov and @flash07, who will be awarded with a 100% upvote either on their latest post or on their comment submissions for being one of the top participants.

nice game.
Here is my score. It's a fun game!
Great game. I work for some time and my score is below.
Thanks @inn3r & @steemgg
Addictive game @inn3r @steemgg. I will play more for sure...
The score is non linear. You get the max score if you kill all enemies on the screen as fast as possible (Fast Combo).
@mys Congratulation my friend for the winning this competition. Also congratulations @silentstorm & @ferdov we nailed it too guys :)
Thanks @steemgg for organizing such a fun competition
Great game @inn3r. I just played it. It's very addictive - we can say it's easy to play but hard to score ;) For now I am uploading the screenshot which I just played (few times). Later if I will do score more will upload that too. Once again congratulation for the great game. Also downaloded the play store version so I can play it any time.
Thanks @inn3r & @steemgg
Great community activity organised!
^_^
Appreciated to @stabilowl hard work.

Don't know if I would, but I'd like to enter... I just have more work to do left from yesterday, and the day before and... you get the idea.
