BEAUTY QUEEN!

When I was young I dreamed of becoming a beauty queen. But how could that be without the looks, the height and yes a flawless skin.. Gee, I don't stand a chance at all given the standards of a pageant. Back then, I figured it would be a blast dressing up like a princess romping to and fro in front of an audience captivated by my beauty... and what can be more thrilling than being crowned the fairest of them all...

But you see.. we live in a planet where eyes are drawn to very beautiful people.. and so where does that leave us, "the not so beautiful ones?" Gee, I guess this kind of dream remains to be just a dream...

How many times do you find yourself looking at the mirror, taking notice of all those imperfect features... and without you noticing, your level of confidence starts dropping. "If only I had a fairer skin, a higher nose bridge, a bluer eyes, etc... On and on you make a list of features you wish you had but unfortunately don't have.. Slowly you drain yourself of any value until you end up feeling insecure..

..But then of course, the beauty I'm referring here is the physical beauty. Something that is skin deep. Put your confidence in it and you will be dismayed the moment that beauty starts fading. No, you could not let your worth depend on it. It's shallow. For when that beauty starts to fade.. your joy surely starts to wane.

Dig deeper then.. Look beyond what the eyes can see.. for there you'll discover a lasting beauty that radiates from the inside out.. A heart of gold, a heart that's pure, a heart that reflects the image of God and touches the lives of others.. is a real beauty that lasts through eternity.. It transcends whatever defects you see from the outside. IT ILLUMINES YOUR ENTIRE PERSONA.. I'm not suggesting you don't take care of your physical body anymore.. what I'm saying here is.. your SELF WORTH must never be dependent on it. When all that concerns you is how you appear on the outside but neglect what's on the inside.. remember, that STINKS..

Take care of what's inside of you and people will start seeing the REAL beauty in you. You don't really need a crown to become a beauty queen. That's why the next time you feel bad about yourself because of those seemingly imperfect features... try looking deep into your heart... Is there beauty in there? For if there is.. then there's no disputing... YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. YES YOU ARE!.. Let nothing make you feel otherwise.. For when you have a beautiful heart.. you are beautiful all the way ....

As for me, I have abandoned my dream a long time ago.. No longer do I wish for a crown that"s literally drawn on my head but I'm striving to have that lasting crown.. "The crown of glory".. A REAL BEAUTY that radiates through ETERNITY.......
