Description
Hello Steemian, This is Hamza again , one of the loyal and avid supporter of Steemgigs.org website. I am very much thrilled and happy upon reading that there is new exciting games for all the Steemian. Of course, after reading i am very anxious about the challenge which is writing on what you learn or the #TIL challenge- Today I learned. This is actually a very nice and interesting topic that most of us can write and relate with right? Everyday we learn new thing no matter how big or small it is.There are so many great lessons we all learn from life and this is really the essence of waking up everyday. To be able learn something , be productive, gain wisdom and applying this in life.
I am Hamza , 20 years old from Iligan. I am A History and Geography major and I have have learned so many fascinating and interesting things about World History that maybe some of you don't really know about.
I'm gonna share today the Holocaust that took place in the World War 2 that killed an estimated 6 million Jews.
That is me, my professor asked me to located a place. By the way as a History student we have to deal with World events, global politics and Many more. Today in our Contemporary Europe class , My Professor discussed about horror experience of the Jews during the World War 2. So some of you might have heard already about the Holocaust which is is very controversial moment of World History. To sum up things, i will briefly elaborate everything that i learned today. i hope that you will also gain knowledge on this dark moment of our History.
This is what i learned today:
*WHAT IS THE HOLOCAUST ALL ABOUT?
Source: Google
- Earlier i learned from my professor how tragic the holocaust was. My professor emphasized that Holocaust was a genocide or known was the mass murder of approximately six million Jews and millions of other people leading up to, and during, World War II. I was really in disbelief and affected with the discussion earlier. My thoughts were "What 6 Million people? are you kidding me?" That is a very large number. My classmate and I were completely devastated and much affected by the topic and discussion today. She also added that the killings took place in Europe between the timeline 1933 and 1945.
*Who were the Victims and Who killed them?
Source: Google
This is a live footage of Adolf Hitler during the holocaust
- Our Professor elaborated further the discussion. The topic today was so sad and at the same time very interesting.Accordingly, the largest group of victims were Jewish people in Europe. Nearly 7 out of every 10 Jews living in Europe were killed. My classmates asked" Maam, where did the killings of Jews took place?" in which she responded briefly. According to historical books and sources the concentration of killings took place in Germany and later on in Poland where in there were an estimated 3 million Jews burned, killed, tortured to death and became a human experiment led and were organised by the German Nazi party which was led by Adolf Hitler. Upon watching the video of the experiences of the Jews in the holocaust shown by our Professor in the class, I can't help but to cry and be so emotional. i try not to get affected by watching and holding my tears but i just did not stop from falling. In the video the Jews were killed one by one including the young children in front of their parents shouting for help. Some of them were burned using a gas. Other video also shows the Jews became a Human experiment of the German scientist. My heart was so crushed watching it. Its feels like knife slowly slicing my heart.
*What was the reason why they were killed?
- According to her, there were a lot of underlying and immediate factors and reason of the bloody holocaust. The books of Contemporary Europe would say that the Holocaust took place because of the German ideology that time. "The Nazis, who came to power in Germany in January 1933, believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews, deemed "inferior," were an alien threat to the so-called German racial community." Which is why they hated the Jews so much at time Adolf Hitler orders to have an ethnic cleansing by mean of eliminating all the Jews in the German land. in addition the German also blame the Jewish for their devastating lost to the World war 1. The Homosexual were also punished and executed by the German authorities and simply believing that they don't fit on the social norms of the society.
It was a great discussion and i learned much that day, unfortunately our class was cut shortly because it was already lunch time. so we will have a continuation on the aftermath of the Holocaust next meeting.
I went to lunch with my friend with a heavy feelings inside. we cannot get over with our discussion. I have this sudden realization of how lucky i am being born late. I cannot imagined myself if i will gonna survived if i was in that era. i couldn't be more thankful for that.
It was a very productive day for me, i hope you learned something today reading this post. There are so many opportunities today that many people do not take advantage of right? Keep learning and apply it in life. Share it with people and be that motivation to others.
