Blender is an open-source tool wherein you can create your own model, animate characters and creating an object with 3D effect. Blender also support what other application does have like, rendering, modeling, rigging, simulation, video editing, motion tracking and game creation.
Blender is also a cross-platform, that simply means it will run into different operating systems like, Linux, Windows, Macintosh.

Absolutely, this is really an amazing app, when refers to user experience? I am the living witness of this app, this really helps me doing my projects at school because we are also using this app. I can really recommend this app to other especially on students who wants to learn animation without paying or buying a licensed software.

There are many easy to follow tutorials.
You do not need a large processor for simple things.
You have many options to mold objects.
It has an internal game engine.
Cons:
It does not use all computer processors by default.
It does not work correctly with polygons with more than 4 sides.
Does not have a source of income to hire specialized developers.
