Hunter's comment

One of the biggest challenges that our planet faces today is the increasing concern about energy production and sources of raw materials. In the desert, we have the sun's full energy with endless supply of sand. So why don't we utilize those resources? This project did!

How about calling this "3D sand printer" or "desert 3D printer"? The presentation was a successful experiment where the device was able to print different glass objects using sunlight and sand.

The setting up of the device may look inconvenient at first but if this is further enhanced and eventually evolved, this will be the future of 3D printing using only sunlight and sand. This device will provide opportunity for use of desert and change our perspective about it to be just barren land.

Or maybe this can be used not only in deserts but anywhere sunny and with sand. That will be a great opportunity!

Sort:

Pros:

  • Can 3d print in the desert.
  • Uses sand and solar, two abundant resources.

Cons:

  • Cannot perform in bad conditions like rain.

Yap, it won't really perform during rainy season. We won't have the sun. :)

Thanks for your review. :)

Congratulations!

Thank you. 😊

Great technology that can turn sand into something.. With using the solar energy, it will save the use of fuel instead the renewable energy

I fully agree. This is one of the most innovative invention I have seen so far.

My first thought is that they should have put that bad boy on tracks or something instead of having to drag it across the sand. Seriously, a very innovative idea and project to use and endless (hopefully) power source - the sun, and a nearly endless material - dessert sand, for 3D printing. Very clever.

Hahaha! I was actually thinking that they should have cut that dragging part and went on with the setup. But I guess it is part of the video effect.

I watched the video and saw that it is really difficult to prepaire it. It is already heavy and it must be horizontal. But if you have a business you can use it easily. Finally it creates amazing things.

Well, they could have actually just put it in the truck and put it down somewhere they want to set it up. But as I mentioned on my replies to other comments here, I think that is part of the video effect to somehow show the possible difficulty that comes with it. :)

It's really cool and amazing hunt @macoolette... From the nature energy and nature source of raw materials.. Hopefully your hunt will get first leaderboard today because it's great innovation in technology.

Wow, I am crossing my fingers to that. Thank you very much for your well wishes! :)

They have developed a great project. In the future, more energy will be needed. The idea of providing energy from the sun is excellent, and this project will save money.

I agree this will save money because it will be one-time investment that can be used over and over again. Let us hope projects like this would really prosper.

Thanks for dropping by my hunt. :)

Cool! The idea of this one was indeed flawless, I believe sand is made of silicone which is one of the most abundant natural resources in the planet and secondly is the witty idea of using sun as another source of energy placing it in deserted land was dashing. I love the idea, great hunt! I will give this one a score of 5 out of 5.

Wow, thank you very much for your perfect score! Indeed, this is a very innovative project. :)

This is really cool.
Technology is really making lives better everyday by exploring the nature to bring out the best.
I love this Solar Sinter

exploring the nature to bring out the best.

I like that. Who would actually think that desert sand which seem to be useless can be very useful.

Thanks for dropping by my post. :)

It is a very smart idea to use solar energy and sand together for 3D print objects. It sounds unbeliable but I hope it will be successful. PErfect hunt.

It was successful as shown on the video with the testing. The question is will they be able to sustain the manufacturing of such device and how they will make it available to glass manufacturing industries when it only works on solar panel.

Thanks for dropping by.
