RE: DJI Mavic Air Fly More Combo, - Portable Quad-copter Drone
Despite initial reactions from the Drone community about where this sits in the hierarchy it turned out to be an incredible offering from DJI. Most people are interested in the difference between Spark/Mavic Pro
pros:
- Bitrate improvement over the Mavic pro (up to 100mbit video over 60 on the Mavic Pro) - reducing digital artifacts at higher framerates.
- Weight - at 430g nearly 1/2 that of the Mavic Pro it's crazy light
- Size - only slightly larger than the Spark (which cant fold props) and 2/3 that of the Mavic Pro it's a shock that they made a smaller drone with the same punch than the Mavic Pro
cons: - The bigest con is the lack of ocusync (DJIs technology for communication between the controller and drone, included in Mavic Pro) the Mavic Air uses extended WiFi. While ocusync can hold a stable 720p video transmission for up to 7km extended wifi struggles from 1-4km(max) and has for more interference from other transmissions .
- Battery life - it's always realistically 75% of what is advertised bringing it closer to a realistic 15min flight, while it sounds long it goes fast when you're trying to get the shots.
