Most 3D printing is not great quality... it rarely looks as good as a similar item made with a plastic mold, but as expected, this is very much starting to change.

The Form 2 3D printer from Formlabs creates incredible results. It's still also incredibly expensive, coming in around $3400... (there are significantly cheaper 3D printers on the market)... but we're talking about amazing resolution and super intricate pieces for the price of a moderately priced DSLR.

Look how intricate these are:

The Form 2 printer is super sophisticated and durable, and comes with an app to let you know the status of print jobs (since they take hours). For $5K you get the Form Wash and Form Cure devices that clean the printed parts and do the post-curing as well. Post-curing is subjecting the printed object to heat and light to really solidify the shape. Like putting pottery pieces in a kiln.

Like Blockchain technology, 3D printing is a technology that will make a huge difference in our future, as 3D printing becomes more available, easier to use and less expensive, retail chains will be adversely affected as we all make items instead of buying them.

Sort:

This isn't a new product but was the first to deliver high quality resin 3D printing to the mass market with the Form 1.

However it wasn't without it's opposition either as the main player in industrial liquid printing tried to sue them for patent infringement. I'm not sure how this lawsuit turned out but they are still trading so it must be all good.

PROS:

  • Cheap compared with other alternatives
  • Producing high quality 3D prints that don't require extensive cleaning/filing
  • Great for protyping

CONS:

  • Not an entry level consumer 3D printer
  • Requires chemicals

Pros:

  • Benefitial for humanity
  • Great overall look and feel
  • The shape of the product looks really good

Cons:

  • Nah

Keep up the hunt!

Pros :

  • A great quality 3D printing that most people will love
  • It is really as good as item that is created with plastic mold
  • It does provide incredibly better output
  • Can do large print with incredible resolutions
  • Provides a high-resolution 3D Printing
  • Designed for reliability and engineered for precision
  • It has automated resin system that lets you

Cons :

  • Quite expensive problem but does incredible outputs

Pros :

-it is super sophisticated and durable, and comes with an app to let you know the status of print jobs

-due to its cost, it can produce amazing resolution and super intricate pieces

Cons :

  • there are people who prefer less expensive printer models available

Pros:

  • They are more accessible nowadays
  • User-friendly
  • Very high resolution when it comes to 3D printing
  • Comes with a durable materials

Cons:

  • None that I could think of

Con is the cost, as the hunter said. For that price, someone might prefer to outsource the printing to a shop (such as Formlabs...) that they know can reproduce the detail. Comes down to the level of detail and the material, and how many you want/need to make, imo.

Unknowns: Is this intended for the sophisticated hobbyist who is looking to upgrade? Because even the most advanced 3d printer is not going to be plug-and-play for someone who can't fix their models.

Great hunt man @urbangladiator! This is some topnotch feat of engineering!
Based on my experience working with 3D printers, this is one of the promising or perhaps the best 3d printers I've seen. Additionally here are my pros and cons.

Pros:

  • Great design which is very catchy.
  • Amazing digitization of the process in 3D printing, saves a lot of time, previously the software that the company I've worked on takes time to analyze and setting up the printer.
  • Equipped with a sensor that checks the level of the tank of the resisn/plastic material, which is very great, my previous experience was a bit awful, I need to check if the plastic resin that I feed is enough for a certain period of time.
  • Price is very considerable for this 3D printer, the features it has is topnotch and the ability to notify the one doing the 3D process is good, no need to the progress, the printer itself notifies you.

Cons:
none for this product.

This is quite similar to the other hunt I've seen a while ago but this is way better than the first one

Pros:

  • Can handle very delicate designs. This is very useful to miniatures with intricate design requirements
  • No need to cast molds since this is already a 3D printer. Will definitely same some bucks in the long run

Cons:

  • There is a great possibility that the 3D model might be deformed if subjected to deformable factors such as heat especially during the early stages of curing
  • Materials might not be widely available in the commercial market. This might need a highly specialized material, thus increasing the total cost of producing 3D printed designs.
