The Fish Toy

Twenty five-year old Heidi is a kid at heart. She loves watching cartoons, wears shirts with funny illustrations on them and even buys little toys for herself. One time, she brought home a small plastic fish toy that talked whatever its top fin was pressed. The talking fish was so entertaining that even her boyfriend and older brother played with it. At various times of the day, Heidi would the toy talk. It didn't really bother her because she knew either her boyfriend or brother was enjoying the gizmo. It was when she'd spot the toy on the floor or in the ref that she became annoyed. "The nerve of those guys to treat my favorite toy just like that!" Heidi thought. She instantly confronted both boys, who just ended up laughing while blaming each other.

One night, Heidi went to bed extra early because of an excursion scheduled the next morning. In the middle of her sleep though, she awoke to the sound of her talking toy. It kept going on and on and on, accompanied by some laughter. She was on the verge of becoming terrified when shr remembered that her brother had invited a couple of friend for beer.

"That explains all the commotion, " Heidi realized. There was no reason to be afraid after all.

But the she remembered how she still had to wake up very early the next morning. "How could he forget that I need to get up early tomorrow?" Heidi thought, a little annoyed.

And so she got up from her bed to hush the noisy revelers- only to spot a frail-looking, unfamiliar boy seated on her bed, playing with her toy.

Their eyes met then the little boy ran to the door, through the closed, solid door, leaving the toy behind.
