STEEMIT IRON CHEF 2018 ACT 1 ROUND 15: 3 MINI PB&J BURGERS SARA STYLE

in #steemit-ironchef7 years ago (edited)

Ok, first of all let me say, that I wasn't planning on entering the final round... My entry is a spur of the last moment kind of thing...This week has been so hectic, very busy, we haven't been home much... Even though I absolutely love burgers, my fridge wasn't cooperating with the idea of making one this Friday morning....

Sipping coffee and watching my daughter Sara have the, in my opinion, weirdest combo of peanut butter and jelly sandwich (I live in Slovenia where nobody ever has pb&j sandwiches)...

Anyway, since there were no proper ingredients in the house,  because we are heading out for our spring break vacation later in the day (i hate leaving food behind to spoil) , Sara suggested I make a sweet peanut butter and jelly burger...of course, what a logical idea!!! NOT! hahaha, I thought it was ridiculous, Sara rolled her eyes at me laughing and then.... I made it anyway!!!! :-):-)

SO I PRESENT : MINI PB&J BURGERS SARA STYLE (the weirdest thing i've ever cooked:))

CHOUX BURGER BUNS:

- butter

- flour

- eggs

- water

- pinch of salt and sugar

HOME MADE RASPBERRY JELLY

After it had set I cut the jelly into round fruity patties.

- frozen raspberries (last years stock from my garden)

- agar agar

- sugar and lemon juice

PEANUTBUTTER GANACHE (peanutbutter and whipped cream)

Burger sauce No 1

CHOCOLATE GANACHE (melted dark chocolate, salt, whipped cream) = Burger sauce No 2

FRESH MINT - a bit of greens in a burger is a must!

Sort:

Another work of art. It must hurt when your masterpieces get devoured. I suppose the reward is the awesome taste!

Haha, thank you Carolyn!! I didn't care much about these actually, I don't eat sugar, well, very rarely.. Sara on the other hand....skinny as a twigg, but boy, can this girl eat:-):-):-)..

Absolutely stunning!! It's like those pastry in the fancy pastry shop. How old is ur daughter btw?

Oh my goodness, and to think you had no time, and nothing in the house??? I am so impressed. I haven't had PB&J for such a long time. And the homemade bread ahhhhh! Well done, I hope you have a wonderful vacation. Wondereful entry, good luck!

Oh thank u so much!!!!well, if you look at it closely, all you need are the basic ingredients...eggs, flour, butter, cream, chocolate are more or less in everyones homes. U can use any fruit or simply jam, peanut butter is a thing of preference......it's just an easy recipe that looks great....

nomnom....your daughter had a great idea that you executed perfectly ... bet they were tasty ! Have a lovely spring break !

Thanks!!!!!!

What an awesome idea. I tried making choux pastry before- total disaster and never made it since! Your recipe has inspired me to give it another go!

Thank you very much!!! I'm happy you found it inspiring, choux is a weird kind of dough, if you ask me, but very versatile! Glad u're giving it another go!
