Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter and YouTube form an anti-terrorist group
The business coalition, called Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism, will help make the four companies "hostile to terrorists and violent extremists."
The technology companies Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter and YouTube have announced today that they have formed a group to combat terrorism through their joint work, the promotion of research and collaboration with organizations and institutions.
The business coalition, called the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism, will help make the four companies "hostile to terrorists and violent extremists," Twitter and YouTube said in separate statements on their corporate blogs.
The group will develop its work based on initiatives such as the European Internet Forum or the shared database of "hashes" (unique fingerprints) that its members promoted last December.
And their definition of terrorists and terrorism is what exactly? Perhaps they could unite to combat the acts of terrorism they themselves as companies commit everyday.
