Introducing: StartPrompt, a search engine with attitude!
I created StartPrompt.com for one reason, to make a search engine that I would want to use. Something that never tracks the users, but just provides good relevant content. However I quickly learned that there's a lot more to search engines than just high hopes and a nice page layout. Search engines need massive amounts of computing power to catalog the Internet and to handle all the traffic that they get every day. It's very expensive to run a good search engine.
That's why I made StartPrompt to have an attitude, so if you search for more than 2 or 3 keywords at the same time then it complains at you and redirects your search to a different search engine that it chooses at random. The cool part about it is that it has a menu button on the main page where you can choose which search engine that you really want to use. It even goes beyond that to let you search on specific websites like Amazon or Facebook directly.
When you choose a search engine from the menu then it wont complain no matter how many keywords you use. And if you feel like it you can use "bangs" on StartPrompt. Bangs are a new way of searching, made by DuckDuckGo. To use bangs you just begin your search with the name (or keyword) for the site you want to search, followed by the keywords that you want to search for, and then hit the Bang button. Here are just a few examples: "amazon shoes", or "google cats", or even "tickets Major Laser"
I just thought I would share my little creation here with the SteemIt community because there's an option that I could add a SteemIt section to the menu button and let people search for SteemIt posts from the StartPrompt interface. What do you think? Should I put more effort into making StartPrompt.com more user-friendly? Or should I just add SteemIt support to the menu button and leave the rest of the site like it is?
uuhm it was "busy" at 5:39 am BST after i did a search on making money
lovely search engine page though, i would use it no problem when its not busy
Great site! Adding steemit capability to "bang" would be awesome. Cheers!
