Super Smash Bros.

We already saw it in the intro of the game in nintendo 64, SuperSmash Bros is the stage where a child plays with his favorite Nintendo characters. If you played this game, didn't you find it strange that the final boss was a hand?

It is the rebellion of toys!

A message that goes unnoticed by the most precocious players.

But yes, the characters were dolls or stuffed figures that recovered life at the hands of a child that made them fight to the death. Magnificent concept if you ask me!

The hallmark of this game is its innovative fighting style where, unlike Street Fighter (and company), you would damage your opponent in order to weaken their resistances and set them off the game map. The damage received accumulates in a percentage, the higher it is, the greater the probability it will be taken off the stage at one stroke, and the possibility that a control will be crashed to the ground. A minute of silence for them salty kid's controls.

This is a detail that transforms the violence of the fight game, and I think it's brilliant. I'm a fan of Tarantino's films, but when a creator maneuvers strategies to transform violence into something less real and more fantastic, a product that pleases me always emerges.

This way you did not really kill your opponents, you only took them out of stage with a punch, home run style.

The creator of this revolutionary fighting game is called Masahiro Sakouri, and is also the original designer of Kirby (no surprise it was so OP in SuperSmash). It is very curious story that of Sakouri with HAL studios, who milked his work with a morbid commitment. And we should thank them for doing so, because the successive games were also brilliant.

Sakouri's idea was not welcome from the start because the fighting games of the moment were in decline, he had to insist and develop the idea in multiple ways in order to be accepted.

Below you can see the prototype of the game that cost so much to convince HAL studio managers.

Sakouri had the clever idea of replacing the figures with nothing less than Nintendo's favourite characters. The demo of the game that finally convinced HAL studio's managers included Mario, Fox, Samus and Donkey Kong.

Mewtew, Bowser and King Deedeede were playable during the development of the game, but there is no information on why they were eventually removed. Also the concept of the Super Smash Ball was already in development, but due to the limitations of the console they had to postpone it.

And so the Super Smash franchise began, the fun was immediately palpable with the use of our favorite characters, all in the same game competing with each other.

There is a very curious theory regarding the philosophy by which Sakouri was guided to develop the game, do not miss it in the next edition about this magnificent and original videogame!
