Woooohooooo!!!!

I FINALLY did it!

I changed my well-earned-blogged SBD into Euros that I can ACTUALLY REALLY REALLY USE in the ‘real world’.

Damn it feels good!!!

12 days ago (Saturday the 13th of January to be exact), I was hanging out on the couch with my boyfriend, his brother and best friend, watching Netflix while they were recovering from their night out, when I had the grand idea of finding out how to get my STEEM to my bank account.

I mean I had already been earning SBD for over three months so it was about time that I got my shit together and figured this out.

I asked my friend @vincentnijman to help me with it because I didn’t really know.
And it seemed MEGA complicated.

Thanks Vincent for giving me very clear instructions! You are a gem!

I used @blocktrades to exchange 24.910 SBD to 0.66458106 LTC (€132.54) and send it to my Coinbase account.

It took about 30 minutes for the LTC to be seen in my wallet.

I then exchanged the LTC to Euro on my Coinbase wallet.

I had to verify my bank account by sending €0.001 to the Coinbase bank account which they said would take a few days.

But it only took two days which I am REALLY surprised about.

So on the Monday the 15th of January, my bank account was verified and I immediately ordered the €131 to transfer it into my bank account, and again they said it should arrive on Friday the 19th of January.

I was a happy lady by this point and was just glad to get the money coming my way!

I checked my bank account on Thursday the 18th and realized that the money had been on my bank account for two days already!!!!!!

The transfer only took 1 day.

Good service Coinbase. LOVE IT!

All in all, I had gotten €130.85 on my bank so it took about €2 for the entire transfer to take place.

Which I think is pretty okay!

Of course I hope this process becomes way more streamlined in the future and that the prices drop.

So by now, I was elated as fuck.

Because seriously, I just got them monies by doing what I love!

Writing on Steemit!

And what better way to celebrate the freedom and joy Steemit gives me by spending it on an expensive dinner at one of my favourite (and fanciest) restaurants in Rotterdam!!!!

This calls for a celebration!

So what does a foodie do when she has something to celebrate?

EAT SOME DAMN GOOD FOOD!

hehe

Plus seen as the man is a chef, it's absolutely perfect.

I had already informed my beloved that I was taking him out to dinner to Restaurant De Jong on Sunday evening.

I have been wanting to take him here ever since we got together.

Because the place is just absolutely incredible!

Everything is just done perfectly.

From the ambiance of the place, the open kitchen, the great music that is played, the wonderful service to the incredible products they cook with and beautiful wines they serve.

The cuisine is French with a twist.

You cannot choose your food from the menu here.
Nope.

It’s a surprise menu so you have NO idea what you are getting.
(You do have the option Fish/Meat or Vegetables)

Which I think is very daring of the chef Jim De Jong and also so much fun.

Plus you ALWAYS get something different here because they work with the daily produce they get in from the market everyday.

You will NEVER EVER eat the same thing twice here.

To quote their website (translated) :

At Restaurant De Jong we work with the best that nature has to give us. The main focus we have is vegetables of the season, flowers and herbs.

So without further ado, let me show you what we ate!

We drank a beautiful Chardonnay but I can’t remember what it was!

We started with an aperitive which was an onion cracker with smoked mayo topped off with pickled onion and dill weed.

The textures were astounding and Berry absolutely loved it. I could appreciate it but to be honest, this dish combines two things that I do not really enjoy eating. I am not a fan of smoked food and sour things. But in all honesty, it was good, just not something I would personally choose to eat.

Then we got our starter which was different types of turnips served with curry sherry sauce, hazelnut crumble with sesame seed and aniseed topped off with chervil and lemon foam.
2.jpg
DELICIOUS!

Our second course was charred cauliflower with raw lemon cauliflower crumble with an amazing truffle sauce and decorated with cauliflower lemon foam.
3.jpg
Sounds like too much cauliflower right?

Nope.

It was a beautiful dish!

The main course was gnocchi mixed with fresh white beans (probably boiled in broth), an eclectic mix of roasted mushrooms with fresh black truffle (YUMMY!) topped off with a gorgeous truffle sauce, dill weed and different herbs.
4.jpg
So damn good.

And last but DEFINITELY not least, we had our dessert.

Topinambour (Jerusalem Artichoke) creamy ice cream with it’s skin made into a crisp and put on the top. Served with apple cider vinegar granite and crunchy mixed granola with raisins.
5.jpg
So you might think, woah a root vegetable for dessert? YES!

It was exquisite.

Just absolutely everything was perfect!

The man and I enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!

As we were sitting there, I had the brilliant idea of paying the EXACT amount of euros that I got on my bank account from exchanging my STEEM.

So when it came to pay, the bill was €116, which I think is very very reasonable for the quality and how delicious the food and wine was.

I told the hostess that I wanted to pay a very specific amount and that I would tell her why after I have paid.

So I told her ‘Please make it €130.85’

She looked at me a bit surprised (haha!)

So as I was typing in my code in the debit card machine, I told her.

I am a blogger and this is the first money I have gotten on my bank account so we had to celebrate! So we came here!

She laughed and was impressed.

Hehe.

(Hello Sara! Tu es tres gentille!)

I would encourage ANYONE coming to Rotterdam (Or Holland actually) to eat at this magnificent place!

It is truly a Rottergem!

(A gem in Rotterdam)

So that was that!

I am so incredibly grateful to have found Steemit.

And I am SO happy I can FINALLY show the people in the ‘real world’ that YES, I CAN ACTUALLY USE TURN MY STEEM INTO REAL MONEY!!!!

I’ve had that question so many times it annoys the hell out of me

I will be putting this post up on Facebook to show them that I am REALLY making money from Steemit.

Hopefully this will convince a few peeps to become minnows on here.

Obviously it’s not just only about the money on here.

But somehow that is a very very good incentive to get people to become a part of our community.

A BIG BIG BIG BIG thank you for everyone whoever upvoted, commented and/or resteemed my posts!

You are making my life a better place in so many ways.

Here’s to a life where I can do this fulltime!

Haha, loved that you paid the exact amount you've received with your payout. ;)

Hehe

It felt appropriate to do so!! :)

Isn't it such a great feeling?!!! I completely empathize and congratulations!
By the way, why did you choose to exchange via LTC rather than BTC? Do you get a better rate?

Yea it really is!

Yes you get a better rate because the BTC prices are so damn high.

Or atleas this is what @vincentnijman told me.
My go-to crypto guy ;)

ah yes, ok I'll look into this too.... ;-)) thx

Cool! Thanks for explaining the flow...in BlockTrades SBD to LTC then LTC to EUR/GBP into Coinbase! :) Also, amazing dinner!

If you are in the UK, you could also use Uphold.com

I cant use it in Dutchieland for some weird reason!

:)

such an amazing advice, I've just verified my account and it's ready to roll! seems slick! thank you!

I upvoted u! I sent in my intro for the feature! I spent a lotta time on it i hope it gets posted soon! Thanks and great read!

Yes!!
Got it :)

Oh, this is so delightful! I also just used my first Steemit profits on some real world stuff by ordering a couple of things from Amazon with gift cards I bought with my SBD. Congratulations!

Niceee!!

What did you buy??

Waterproof bluetooth earbuds and a stand for my phone.

Thanks so much for this post. I love how you got to really celebrate your first withdrawal of Steem!

I feel just like you did - i.e. it seems MEGA complicated. But I have now made a note of your choices of @blocktrades and Coinbase (names I've heard bandied around) and will start from there when the time comes.

I'm curious as to how you worked out to change it to LTC as from what I'e read we have 3 choices. Could be completely wrong about that though! 😊

I've only been here a month and for now, at least as far as the financial side goes, my focus is on building SP. I can't wait until my vote is worth a decent and I can upvote more people.

Glad you chose to spend your earnings on 2 of your favourite things - your man and food - and loved how you wanted to pay a specific amount.

Fun, fun, fun! 😍

It's cos my crypto expert guy told me to!
Haha

Yes
there was SO much joy in this whole process!

I need to get me one of those . . . a crypto expert guy . . . or gal! 😁

Lekker!

Hehe

Awesome!!! It feels great to turn the Steem earnings into some real world food and fun :-). That restaurant looks amazing too, I think the onion cracker and the desert are the two most interesting looking ones to me... fancy dining is so cool.

I bought some food with some steem money too today, using an ATM card to withdraw it! So awesome!

IMG_3662.JPG

Yay!!!

Is this what your normal day looks like? :)

Yeaaa if you ever come here, I'll take ya!

Good to know, because like you I get the question often about how to turn it into money on your own bank. I did not dive into this yet, but it doesn't seem that hard of I read this post. The food looks good, nice you enjoyed your well-earned steem dollars :-)

Hehe

Thanks deary!

There are quite a few ways to do it!
:)

It does feel good, right? Haha
And I'd love to visit this place, I just keep hearing good things about it.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful moment with everybody! Cheers!

Truly feels amazing!

Yea definitely need to visit it!

Have you got an anniversary coming up with your boyfriend?

Cos then this is THE place you need to go!

:P

Not really, need to wait more three months haha but I'm going to keep it in mind. Thanks for the great idea!
