Steemit Password Issue (aka My First Day Here)

in #steemit7 years ago

So I've literally been on this site for ten minutes and I am having a problem and can't figure out how to contact support (if it exists).

I have been dabbling in cryptocurrencies for a few weeks now and an acquaintance told me about Steemit, it's concept and goals. I thought it was brilliant and I wanted to be involved. I began by coming here and registering for a username using my email and telephone number. After two days I received confirmation that my account was approved.

I really wanted to jump right in, so today I opened my browser (which again was already logged in) and came to the site and purchased a little bit each of Steem / Steem Power / Steem Dollar from here using Bitcoin.

I then opened the browser on my cell phone and attempted to log in to Steemit.com from there. At that point I realized that it was asking me for a password. I have no memory of setting up a password. Only providing my cell / email. Upon clicking on on the 'approved' email response from Steemit, it brought my to the site already logged in.

So here is my dilemma: I am auto-logged in but should I get logged out of this browser for some reason I have no idea how I can get back in. I did back up that very long account recovery password/key but that doesn't work as the password from another browser (I already tried).

So is my password something I picked out or something Steemit assigned me? I am so confused. The typical 6 variations that I use for passwords don't work and I really don't remember setting one up. I'm not sure what is going to happen to my account and my wallet should I get logged out.

Again, I apologize in advance if this is not the correct place to post this issue. I am brand new to the site.

that 52 digit key is your password. Try it again and make sure you have not added a space or extra character.

Thank you. Indeed it was a space added from the formatting where i was saving it.

I was given the following two articles by @drakos and I now have a better understanding of the public and private keys.
