I don't think the New Hard Fork will actually help minnows

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I just wanted to briefly write about this new so called 'great' update, for the last few hours, I've just been seeing whales (people with 50k+ accounts) just post more & more and earn way more than they otherwise would have previously. And Quite honestly, I think this update will ultimately dilute good content as all the 'whales' have to do is just post anything and people will automatically vote on it, which in turn will make others vote on it because of greed and not good content. If your minnow, you have ~ 10 good votes, most likely your going to vote on something that is sure to trend so you'll make those 10 votes worthwhile so in the end I don't see it really helping minnows like myself out. Also I'm not even sure if you get 10 good votes any way, although your upvote for your own posts has gone up I don't think it will really make that much of a difference compared to a whale vote. Anyway that just my short rant.

Have any of you been seeing this type of behavior?

Do you guys feel the same?

Thanks.

Those guys are always gunna earn more as they've got heaps of followers that upvote their stuff... I disagree though, as I notice my vote, which was worth 0.006 yesterday is now worth $1.71, and a post of mine with a potential payout of around $2 yesterday is now worth around $20. And I see your vote just made you 0.27 - that's gotta feel good!

I really think this is gunna encourage a bunch of people earning very little to keep at it, build a following, vote for stuff YOU CARE ABOUT (not what they think might trend) and STEEM ON!

lol yea the 0.27 feels good forsure, I noticed some people in particular have been posting double the number of blogs and earning a lot more in a shorter amount of time, I just seen this as potential abuse lol. But I understand, I have been slowly buying steem on dips, being active and powering up everything as I see this platform has huge potential. And yeah, they have the followers and the money to do so.

well in some point its true, what i am doing its creating a community with minnows and support each other

Yea that's true. I've been on the same hype.

I was thinking the same way. Having 40 votes (as before) makes it a lot easier to spread and vote for all kinds of things. Now with the 10 we (the small ones) will have to be a lot more selective. So if all the minnow are more selective now, automatically we will have less votes.

It all changes when you can chose how big % of the power you want to put into your vote. That gives much more freedom to the one with bigger accounts.

I Agree with you, like someone said, we have to follow minnow accounts. I'm not sure how much a minnow account should be hold but I'm guessing if you want the % bar you'll need a minimum of 500 steem, which is what I'm aiming for now.

Yeaa... I thought I saw that 500 number somewhere, but wasn't sure.
It is 500 steem or steem power?

Totally agree with you ! But screw this ! I'm gonna work even harder and try to squeeze myself into that 1% that makes most of the money 💰

That makes sense ! It keeps the competitive spirit rolling too ! Good content should rise to top eventually ! Even from us newbies !

That does seem to be an issue.
