How Do I Reach These Keedz? - My Dreams for One Strong Club on the STEEMIT Blockchain
"Insanity is when you do the same thing over and over again expecting a different result."
When we continue to do the same things in our communities, our schools, our lives and expect something different to happen, that's insanity.
My mind get's caught up on how terrible my city and other cities handles its lower-income communities and growing "minority" demographics because in my head there are not offering anything better...they hire big suits, get these assistant superintendents and then implement the same tired old stuff from the early 90s when clearly we have different breed these days.
We lose children to gangs, social media tropes (ie challenges), and all of these other ridiculous things because it's attention-grabbing to our kids. The school environment doesn't seem like it will actually benefit them in the future because in the long run all the information we are giving them in the school they can pick up on their phone. You can't drill them in whats already available to them. And they know that. They don't understand(because they are children) that their choices are what affect them in the long run.
> @boycharlieplays: > I can tell that little Puerto Rican Boy who looks just like me that you need to act right dude otherwise you're not going to be able to build the skills to hold a job later on and he will literally go tell me to do something with myself. Little punk. But I work in the schools and understand this and everyday I use new tools to try to help my students get more excited about school. I want to create something that's going to make them want to engage and do better things for themselves.
So why haven't we taken a cue from all these major companies and change how we run our schools and classrooms. Stop focusing on the tests because tests aren't equivalent to projects in a workplace it doesn't teach you to work along with the teacher and students. It just causes a major stress on all those involved and to act like its a reflection of the personal knowledge students are receiving from teachers is sickening. We are setting up ur school systems to fail.
Now we can continue to say...
"Oh well. I had it like this, I had to sit in a classroom and listen to my teacher every day and I was very respectful...blah blah blah."
"These kids today they just don't try."
"They want everything handed to them."
No, they want an avenue to create, to learn, and to be ready for whatever life throws at them with certainty. Many of them only find certainty in those terrible things. They know that the opportunity to earn comes from a gang. The opportunity for social love comes from being popular on the internet doing something vile and idiotic.
Let's make things exciting
This is where One Strong Club comes in
The One Strong Club is an educational and communal reward resource that promotes academic achievement, cultural awareness, righteousness and unity within our school systems and communities.
The goal of the program is to engage the children in a structured online environment where they are able to cooperate and create projects that aim to better their school experience, extracurricular activities, and community outreach goals.
In creating this platform for students to showcase their triumphs and to also connect with similar students with the same mindsets we will be building a networking system of strong leaders that will motivate each other in order increase rewards and resources added to the One Strong Platform.
On top of posting about their own personal endeavors the One Strong Platform will provide tools and resources in many avenues to challenge our community members to do more for their community for even more rewards.
A platform that encourages service and rewards for work.
On the One Strong Club platform children and parents will be able to earn tokens that work as a real currency and put it towards scholarships, organized fundraisers, and any cause the member desires.
This platform will reward members for their good grades, good deeds, and overall good character.
Let's stop rewarding and giving everyone a trophy just because they showed up because in the end, we have a bunch of children and parents who feel entitled to it. We must show you must give back in order to receive. It's a twoway street. No dead profiles here. And staying in the program long after their time in school will still allow them to reap the rewards by keeping their profiles and updating the community on their successes in life.
Let's reward accordingly for working their butts off and help those who put in the efforts instead of bringing attention to the negative. By using the STEEM Blockchain this community will keep everyone accountable and make sure we are all working together and putting in the work accordingly.
Let's set up our children for a brighter future instead of trying to hold on to this old mindset on how we should go about academic endeavors and supporting our school systems with tools that are effective.
Let's give them the tools to do better and see what they do with it. They already go on the internet and troll, why not give them something organized on the internet to do better and build a better future together. One Strong.
Let me know your thoughts on the program details above I have been working with a few other users to create a fundraising project on www. steemraise.com.
