Corradino originally developed a scooter motor design for Innocenti, another motor manufacturer from Milan. Unfortunately, there is no agreement between Corradino and Innocenti that makes Corradino resign and instead offers his design to Enrico Piaggio. Innocenti also eventually produce scooters named Lambretta.

The first prototype was continuously developed by Corradino D'Ascanio until the presence of MP6 models. This model is then named Vespa (in Italian means wasps) and then developed in bulk. The Vespa design was later patented in April 1946.

Since then the Vespa has become increasingly popular and is exploring the world. In 1956 one million Vespa units were sold worldwide. This number increased to two million units in 1960. Imagine, in just four years one million units the amount of sales doubled!
