Ive found some great posts after the payout date as well. The payout is based on the content created that week, divided by the currency produced. If it didn't have a shut off point, then as this thing grew, new posts would keep dividing by all the posts ever created. By the time the payout came for that week everyone would get practically nothing. Their would come a point that people weren't inspired to create anything new because it would be basically worthless. I do believe that you should still be able to give a token up vote that didnt change the value figure at the bottom, but showed as 1 late up vote. It would be nice to be able to show that you appreciated the piece, and great for the author to see when they happened to be looking back over their work. But to continuing dividing the payouts would tear the system apart.
