RE: Naughty Tagger's List -- Tag spammers identified. Now the ball is in your court!

in #steemit7 years ago

Wow. That is a huge list and I'm sure you could keep going. As a new user her (12 days) I am still feeling my way around and trying to learn the ins and outs of Steemit. Your posts have been very helpful so far with this. However, I must say that I'm not sure the upvoting is worth it from a financial standpoint. I have done it a few times now and every time I do the math I seem to lose. I do see the advantages to getting your post active and drawing other traffic. You just need to hope that you are drawing the right traffic otherwise you will lose on you efforts. As for the introduceyourself tag, I have yet to post a blog there. I think I might soon but my question is: Does it make a significant addition to the promotion of your post? I know that I have been working really hard to get out in the community and meet users and it would be sad to see that some people are getting the benefits of a tag that is really only meant to be used once. An introduction is just that... an introduction. Why would people upvote a post tagged that way if it was anything other than that? Obviously there must be something to it otherwise why would they bother. Thanks you again for these articles @bycoleman. They have been a great introduction to the ways of Steemit for a new user. Cheers!!!

It used to have a lot more weight. As steemit has grown, it likely has gotten less profitable to post there, but we as a community typically like to upvote newbies so they can gain the concept of how this whole thing works. The problem is that you get a couple of people who either unknowingly do it or do it on purpose trying to "trick" those who vote. The purpose of your vote is to tell the community that a post you see is worth seeing/reading. That's how I choose to place my votes. If I don't think your reply is worthy of others reading it, I won't upvote you. If I think your post has value for others, I'll upvote it. I hate it when people repost something someone else posted (plagiarism) without giving credit to the person who posted the article in the first place. There should be original though there run rampant...Welcome to the community!

Thanks Bob. You make some very great points.

Yes, I also believe voting should really be used to show off quality. It is possible as people mature on the platform they also become more responsible in this regard. I guess we'll see how everything unfolds. We are really just getting started.

Thanks for the support and great reply.

Since I wrote my article on Minnow booster, so many people are now using it, it really has does not have much voting power left.

But, if you using MB, you are getting 2.2 times the value of your post. If you buy votes when the USA is sleeping it works better.

When a post has a big payout, people come and vote on it so they can share in the reward pool for that post. This causes the value to rise, causing more people to come. You just have to light the fire.
