Steemit Is Already More Popular Than You Realize!
I just received an email from my good friend @mikeparker, and he put out an incredibly useful -- and enlightening -- article that you should all check if you have a chance!
Here's the full link -- https://steemit.com/steemit/@mikeparker/5-websites-that-steemit-will-overtake-in-popularity-by-the-end-of-2017
The crux of his argument is that Steemit is already more popular than most people, perhaps even many Steem users, realize. Furthermore, he lays out in his opinion the top five websites that Steemit may overcome in popularity by the end of this year.
I double-checked his sources, and I have to say without a doubt, Steemit has overcome both bitcoin.com and bitcoin.org. Furthermore, it's right on the heels of The Blaze, which is an extraordinary achievement considering how young the Steem network is.
Now, for my own opinions, I think @mikeparker's targets for number one and two are a tad too ambitious. Especially number two is going to be wickedly difficult. Still, if the right level of engagement and integration occurs, who knows? Only time will tell!
So anyways, please check out the great article that @mikeparker submitted, which you can find here -- https://steemit.com/steemit/@mikeparker/5-websites-that-steemit-will-overtake-in-popularity-by-the-end-of-2017
STEEM On!
Steem on! I wonder when Steem will be past the Beta phase!
I believe Steemit should have a suggestion/bug report button, as it is in beta after all! That is just what I think anyways, because I have run into a few small little kinks here and there, and I havent found any easy way to resolve it. I realize you can make an account with the steem chat, and go about it that way, but how much easier does just a box sound?
I think we can expect Steemit.com to overtake many popular sites, but I don't think it will be as popular as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, just because it came a bit later and doesn't have such a wide
It will take some time because , FB , twitter , instagram havnt such compitators on his eara , steem face a strong compition , but steem give more then others
That could be the case...the mainstream social media platforms definitely came first on a "nominal" or technicality basis. That said, so many people are enthusiastic about Steemit, and believe that it will overtake some, if not all, of the mainstream platforms is because of the blockchain revolution.
With some dedication, people can make careers out of blogging on Steemit. If not, it's definitely a great side-gig! :)
It is very, VERY unlikely that Steemit will ever touch Facebook's success. FB is untouchable unless they make a huge mistake (or unless Blockchain literally eliminates the banks forever and destroys all advertising, which seems unlikely)
Steemit has the potential to be huge a year, 5 or 10 in the future.
Yeah, I agree...the engagement volume has spiked exponentially over the past few months alone!
It will eventually also face competition from other blockchain-based social networks. This monopoly won't last for ever!
Steemit will over take Facebook in 3 years. We just need a few updates. I have faith.
One day, perhaps steemit will serve a purpose more similar to reddit, where a widespread audience can find quality curated posts
The posts are many, the quality ... eh ... it'll get there eventually! :)
Josh thanks for featuring my article that was awesome, it wouldn't have the traction and I think we've sparked even more steemit excitement to a community that wasn't lacking ;) but it deserves to be excited.
Glad I can help! It really is a good article...(I know people give "fluff" compliments on social media; this ain't one of 'em!)...I learned a lot and got inspired by it, so thank you!
We still have a long way to go, don't you think there will be better alternatives in the future?
There will always be better alternatives, but Steemit is the first to market (as far as I'm aware) with the blockchain-social media concept. So while competitors will try to steal the thunder away, Steemit would have already gained tremendous traction.
The caveat here is that Steemit needs to resolve certain vulnerabilities, such as the downvoting system or the problematic de-facto censorship. But overall, I'm bullish.
I think steemit is the best and given time will take out tracebook, sorry facebook. Cheers
Fakebook? Yeah, its days are numbered. It may take a couple of years, but Steemit and the blockchain concept will outpace it in the end.
