$150 SBD Steemit Writing Contest. The more writers the bigger the prize fund! -- Final results will be posted 3/20/18

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

We are finally on the last steps of this incredibly successful writing contest.

All seven #bycolemanjudges have now turned in their final scores and we have started the final process of tabulating and building the worksheet in preparation for the announcement of all winners tomorrow, 3/20/18 (baring any unforeseen difficulties) by day's end. Please stay tuned to this post for the final winners announcement!!

For more information on this contest please see the initial post part 1, part 2 and part 3.

The payout will be as follows for this first contest.

The final count of accepted and judged submissions stands at 140!

$50 SBD to the 1st place winner.
$20 SBD to the 2nd and 3rd place winners.

For every 10 entries starting at 30 entries, we have added another winner's slot for $5 SBD.

30 entries = 4th place winning slot for $5 SBD
40 entries = 5th place winning slot for $5 SBD
...
So, 140 entries = 15th place winner's slot for $5 SBD.

Total prize fund = 50 + 20 + 20 + (12 x 5) = 150 SBD!!

Two honorable mentions will be given.

Once we announce all winners, we will be opening up a 48 hour window to allow judges or contestants to submit any statements and/or objections that we should consider before finalizing the results.

Once the 48 hour window has passed, no further objections or change requests will be considered and the contest and winners will have been finalized. All prize funds will be distributed immediately thereafter.

Thank you all for helping make this first contest such a grand event!

Thank you everyone for your patience, this has really been a massive undertaking and we want to ensure we are doing everything correctly to honor the great talent that has been displayed by our authors.

Remember to support the seven judges, these fine folks have worked tirelessly to make this contest a reality.

The full spreadsheet used to determine these winners can be downloaded here. This spreadsheet has 3 tabs, winners, all ranking and the raw scores received from all judges.

Both judges and contestants are very much encouraged to review these calculations and let us know immediately if you see any dependencies.

I will posting an image of each judges secure memo's that I received which was used to relay the judges scores. Everyone is also encouraged to review these images and compare them to the final spreadsheet to ensure there are no discrepancies.

A preliminary congratulations to the winners and of course to everyone that has participated and again our judges for this monumental achievement.

Note to Judges: Once the 48 hour window has closed, I encourage each of you to create a post on your insights, thoughts, review process and anything else you have found of interest in this contest, I will gladly resteem each.

I will be creating a post also that will focus on this contest, but also upcoming tools to make a future contest SO much easier, including a submission link directly to one of my servers to eliminate the requirement to search the reply list for valid submissions. Your thoughts on this will be very welcome at that time.

We have learned a lot and there is so much more to come.

The 48 hour window has now started at 3/20/18- 2:33 PM CT (USA)

Thank you :)

Thanks so much! It was such a happy surprise to see the bump in SBD in my account. :)

You are very welcome. It was a very fine article, difficult times you went through.

I plan to do another contest down the road. Stay tuned!

I look forward to it. Congrats on getting this contest completed. I've never come across such a well attended competition before.

Thank you, that means a lot.

Blessings!

Yeyyyy, congrats to all the winners, especially to the top one: @mermaidvampire, you deserve it sis!!!

As for the number of articles I judged, I evaluated a total of 40 submissions on the initial judging and then judged 29 articles for the final judging :)

Thank you @renalexis for the very fine work you did on this and helping make it such a success.

I transferred your funds.

Thank you so much :)

I'm so honored, @bycoleman. It was actually my first time to get a curie vote and I am more than grateful that you have this contest. I was uninspired to write because I was feeling down that day but alas, maybe our minds can make something beautiful in good days and bad days, too! Thank you so much, you gave me a dose of confidence by recognizing my work. Keep helping people here in Steemit, know that it is appreciated. All the best!

I am very honored as well for the level of quality we have received. I actually have not read your article yet, but have been told of your journey by my wife and how it drew from your current life condition and yes, how she found it to be moving and well written. I will read it today as well.

There is no doubt our choices can either honor life and its beauty or dishonor it, each and every step we take. Thank you for taking the former and I pray you find much peace and strength.

Blessings.

I'd like to be a judge for the next contest, if there would be one.

Thank you for the offer. Stay tuned to this blog for announcements -- could be awhile before we have another contest.

Blessings!

Congratulations to all the winners and all those who participated in this contest,I must say it was really fun and educative. Special thanks also to @bycoleman for his time, effort and money he has put in this contest,I really can't wait for next one.

I reviewed a total of 108 submissions including the semi-finals

Thank you @nosmas for the great effort you gave and the kind words.

I also look forward to working with you again on the next one.

I transferred your SBD!

Blessings!

@bycoleman, thank YOU for going through all the effort to organize and run this contest. It was quite interesting to read through the diverse experiences and lifestyles of people all over the world. Please let me know if you need a judge for a future writing contest.

Also as you requested, an accounting of submissions that I evaluated:

  • Round 1 accepted submissions: 102 (Of the 104 I evaluated and judged, one did not receive the necessary 3 judges to be accepted, and one was DQed post-evaluation.)
  • Final round: 28 (There were 29 finalists but one was invalid.)
  • Total official evaluations: 130
  • Expected compensation: 15.5 SBD (2.5 base + 130 x 0.1)

I'm amazed that anyone of you wants to take on such a workload again!

You bet, I would very much love to have you on board in the next contest, you proved to be invaluable in the details department.

I will be making many changes before another contest to streamline the entire process and reduce the chance for errors. Your ideas will definitely be requested on this.

If you get a chance, look over your scores (and the others if you like) and let me know if you see any errors.

I am transferring your funds now. Thanks again.

Blessings!

Thanks @bycoleman. I have checked against my raw data and confirm that my scores as you have posted them are correct. Obviously I can't speak for the other judges, as they'll each have to compare against their own raw data.

This was an excellent contest @bycoleman. Well done for putting it together.

It turned out to be a massive undertaking so well done on getting through the many, many entries. I can only imagine how many hours of work went into this.

Hi @bycoleman thanks for organising such a greta contest it has been an honor to be a judge - and thank you everyong for entering I have enjoyed reading all your stories.

I judges - 24 in the preliminary round, 28 in the finals (minus six which I had already judged in the preliminary round).

Making for a totoal of 46 stories judged :)

Thank you @conradt!!

I will be making many changes before we have another contest to streamline the entire process and reduce the chance for errors. I will be very interested in any feedback you might have on this.

If you get a chance, look over your scores (and the others if you like) and let me know if you see any errors.

Thanks, @bycoleman for organizing the contest and for the opportunity for being a part of the judging panel. Looking forward to seeing the winners.

As for the total number of submissions reviewed by me:-

  • 81(preliminary)+28(semi finals) = 109 reviews

Thank you @nihalmaz!!

Thanks @bycoleman.
I do have some suggestions if you are planning to conduct a contest in the future and will say it when you make the post.

This is the best contribution to steemit from my part to this date. You can always count on me if you intend to conduct any in the future

That will be great, thanks.

And thank you very much for such a great compliment on the contest. You folks made it possible. I would very much like to have you in the next contest.

I am checking the page several times lol.. Good luck all!

Sounds like a hell of a job to me

But I won a prize :-) 14th :-)

Yes, you have. But remember there is a 48 hour window allowed for any corrections.

Nothing to do but wait :)

Congratulations!
