What dimensions would you like the banner to be? Also, any particular color scheme or other things that you're looking for? I am not a pro by any means, but I really enjoy creating graphics, so I'd like to give it a try.
I think the best use of the banner to promote the project is to be able to add it go the bottom of your posts, without making it too intrusive. I’m not a pro either, but I’d go for the standard 728x90 size...
