Steemit and other platforms more important than ever.
As you know large tech companies like Facebook, Twitter and Google have increasingly censored more and more people especially conservative voices. If you do not fit their narrative or agree with them politically they will ban you and demonetize your content. Alex Jones is a perfect example,he was an easy target for the large social media companies to gang up on him and purge his online existence. Love Jones or hate him he has the right to express himself however he wants. These media companies are private companies and certainly have the right to ban people from their platform, however they seem to go after conservatives far more than the left. You can imagine the outcry if your hydro company charged you twice as much because you are a conservative, Facebook and Google are doing the same thing.
This brings me to my point the importance of Steemit, there is no central authority that decides who gets banned and who does not. I think social media platforms that follow this model will be the future, while Facebook is a huge behemoth today, they stand to lose in the coming years. Steemit rewards creators of content, Facebook keeps the reward for themselves while everyone else provides content for them (as long as it meets their guidelines for what they think is moral and just) The revolution has started and platforms like Steemit have a bright future ahead of it.
