Sony have not said or hinted at anything until now. However, the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, John Kodera, has assured in Tokyo a few hours ago that the current generation of its consoles, the PS4 family, is already going through its final stage.

That the life cycle of PS4 is living its last years is something understandable (it was launched at the end of 2013), what remains now to know is when its successor will be announced and until when will they support the current platform, which has a rhythm surprisingly good in sales to be on the verge of 80 million units.

Undated for PlayStation 5
"PlayStation 4 is entering the final phase of its life cycle," Mr. Kodera said, according to Takashi Mochizuki of TWSJ. The declarations have taken place precisely because this week the Sony IR Day 2018 is taking place, a meeting of shareholders where the immediate objectives of the company are contemplated.

Those who think that PS5 can be announced in E3 2018 can leave the wishes aside, because Sony itself has said that they will not make any kind of presentation about it.
